Half way through Season 3, It's still weird to have a Star Trek show where one character is the focal point to every major issue that arises. Hope this is not repeated in future series 'cause it's not Star Trek. Imagine James Bond with a sidekick...
Also, I still don't give a hoot about a lot of characters, which is a shame. Lorca, Pike, Saru, Georgeou, Detmer, Reno, and Tilly are probably my favourites. Stamets was better without the deus ex machina of Season 2.
I love the A.I. computer on Discovery.
We need more Harry Mudd.
All in all, it's at the bottom of the live action series list. Enjoyable enough, with some things we've never seen in Trek before, which is neat and stuff. But the overall story so far has mostly been cliche city. Tying this show to TOS weighs it down. Could have stripped out the Burnham/Spock angle, etc and still had a good revitalization of Star Trek.
