First Duty Teaser

I was just rewatching "The First Duty" and I wondered, did anyone get excited that Wesley might have died after that teaser? You know, when the Admiral calls and says there was an accident?

By the way, I actually I like Wes, but I was just curious.

I never thought of it that way, but it would've nice yet impossible for TNG to go that dark.

If his next appearance was in the Native American episode, I kind of wish he -had- died. He still could have shown up in Parallels after all. Would have made the episode much meatier as well, and I don't think TPTB could have credibly never referred to what happened again.

Seriously, I don't know what the writers were doing with him...I despised him when he was a regular who not infrequently saved the ship, but when he became an occasional guest character I started to like him (The Game was probably my favorite Wes episode)...and then between this episode and the Native American episode they managed to make me loathe him all over again, though for entirely different reasons.
