I'm heavily thinking about scaling back because it's really tiring to put in the effort to come up with the idea, then drawing/inking/coloring. Since I'm nearing my three-hundredth drawing, I think it would be to my benefit to slow it up a bit so I can do something special for 300.
As I anticipated, my idea to do daily drawings this month died a quick death this week. I was simply too busy with IRL things, while also putting the finishing touches on episode five of EVA-Trek (https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/eva-trek-an-evangelion-star-trek-crossover.311690/#post-14293725). To celebrate the completion of that script, this week's batch of drawings is all EVA-Trek related. Drawing #297 / 2022 Artwork #160: The senior officers of the USS Nerv: Captain Gendo Ikari Commander Kozo Fuyutsuki, First Officer Lt. Commander Misato Katsuragi, Ops Officer Commander (Doctor) Ritsuko Akagi, Exec. Science Officer Lt. Commander Ryoji Kaji, Chief Engineer Lt. Commander (Doctor) Hitomi Amagi, Chief Medical Officer Drawing #298 / 2022 Artwork #161: More of Nerv's crew: Lt. Makoto Hyuga, Helmsman Lt. Maya Ibuki, Science Officer Lt. Shigeru Aoba, Chief of Security Lt. Commander Mari Makinami, Ship's Counselor Lt. Meika Komi, Communications Officer Drawing #299 / 2022 Artwork #162: "Now you must tell him that he is a good cat, and a pretty cat." Dr. Akagi asks Maya to take care of her cat, Spock, while she's away from the ship. This finally takes care of the last of the major TNG sets I had left to draw.
I love this. Only a couple of drawings to post this week... mainly because I spent way too much time trying to think of some special illustration to do for my three-hundredth sketch! But of course, the harder I thought, the less inspiration I got. By yesterday morning, I just kinda gave up pondering... and that's when I suddenly had a brainwave when I was listening to some Bruce Springsteen. Anyways, on with the show! Drawing #300 / 2022 Artwork #163: Ladies and Gentlemen, Shigeru Aoba and the Tokyo-3 Street Band! Drawing #301 / 2022 Artwork #164: Yor Forger from Spy x Family.
Drawing #302 / 2022 Artwork #165: From Gintama, Gin-san and Sadaharu. Drawing #303 / 2022 Artwork #166: "DR. ERIN SAYS WE CAN'T DO THAT!!!" Drawing #304 / 2022 Artwork #167: Gintama's Elizabeth decided on their Halloween costume.
Busy with IRL work as well as writing the first draft of EVA-Trek's eighth episode, so only one drawing this week... Drawing #305 / 2022 Artwork #168: Misato Katsuragi stars as SFPD Detective Lieutenant Francine Bullitt in Peter Yates' BULLITT.
Imagine how silly I felt when I rewatched Bullitt last night after finishing the drawing, only to discover that McQueen's turtleneck is actually blue in the movie. But, I think it works fine with the monochrome palette.
This ended up being an incredibly productive week for writing and drawing. EVA-Trek 106 is locked and ready to drop on Friday, 107 hit a final draft, and 108 is finally at a first draft, soon to go through revisions for a second draft. Once all that was out of the way, it was time to draw. Drawing 306 / 2022 Artwork 169: Shino Kiryuu from the hilariously ridiculous Kanojo mo Kanojo, also known as Best Girl, and probably the only one in the cast with more than one brain cell. Drawing 307 / 2022 Artwork 170: From the new Star Wars / Studio Ghibli short Grogu and the Dust Bunnies. Drawing 308 / 2022 Artwork 171: The original waifu, Urusei Yatsura's Lum.
Oh, the dust bunnies are so adorable! Is that one at the bottom sticking its tongue out...? (Do they even have tongues?!?)
Drawing 309 / 2022 Artwork 172: Ayukawa from Kimagure Orange Road. Drawing 310 / 2022 Artwork 173: To celebrate the release of the sixth episode of EVA-Trek, here's Lt. J.G. Asuka L. Soryu piloting the USS Kyoto, MU-02.
