Favorite Voyager Villain

After Replicators, even though there are a lot of complex things that are not replicatable, most classic trade would have become unnecessary for basic resources, so most of those diplomatic agreements would have been about ironing out the proper inoculations before different species were permitted to go on Sex Saffari in virgin territories.

The Orion's were pirates.

The Orions were such good pirates, that by the 24th century, they'd all pyramid schemed themselves up to the top of the totem that %100 of the boots on the ground are pinkskins.

What about the outrageous Okana?

Yeah we saw some scammers.. I just think there would have been more lawless renegades. Though as you say replicators make everything so what are they off pirating.

From what I've seen , it's good to be under the federations Thumb.

Free Education in what ever field you want, free accommodation and living expenses, free transport, and then the worse you are as a professional in your field the further away from the homeworld you can get a job which will result in a larger living space and benefits becuase of the unfortunateness of "exile".

I figured out that the enlisted ranks are basically a trade school that's really easy to get into becuase your life is sometimes in constant danger.

No, that's just a human law.

Denobulans have been doing it for centuries.

(If they joined?)

I assume it's like State and Federal laws in Australia, and the Federation is so accommodating that they bow to the local laws of a member world in their own territories, but if any member world's rule of law was so disagreeable, then they wouldn't be let in, or it would be cause to be kicked out.

So what can't you have or do in the Federation that would make someone want to operate outside of Fed rules?

Drugs. Presumably some drugs are forbidden?

Own rare endangered things. What were some of the contraband Quark was sometimes trafficking in? There were some kind of crystals.. I dunno, were they drugs or were they rare endangered things or were they components for weapons? I guess there were fakes too, of rare things people want to own.

Everyone can't have a palace. Or everyone would have a palace. Well I probably wouldn't have a palace but I would want something in a great setting and obviously everyone can't have that. Who gets the beach.. maybe if you are high up in the Orion syndicate you get to make your home on non-Fed planets where only the wealthy and powerful get the beach.

I think there should have been more pirates. We saw some Klingon shitheads in ENT but otherwise Fed space seems too safe.

Oh, he teases shamelessly, you might want to check out the Kirk/Seven novel. There be pirates also . . . .

Living beings that can't be replicated, like Tribbles and Orion Slave Girls?

How about that Varon-T disrupter that Fajo had in "The Most Toys"? That was described as being "banned in the Federation".

Quark did deal in rare goods, sometimes, but I think most of his trade was in information (which is why he had listeners all over the place and worms in the computer systems) and in getting needed stuff to places more quickly than it could get there by going through proper customs inspections and so forth (I seem to recall him even getting some stuff needed by Sisko for the war effort on a couple of occasions).
