Favorite Thing About Each Series.

TOS - The beginning, and the show that wasn't just the wild west. Multinational and multispecies crew, and the prime directive. We weren't just out there conquering.

TAS: some non-humanoid crew and aliens.

TNG: Picard is a very good captain.

DS9: Relationships. Sisko-Jake, O'Brien-Bashir, Odo-Quark, the O'Briens.

TOS: Spock. Everything about him and his journey.
TAS: Some gorgeous visuals they couldn't have done on TOS (ie, Beyond the Farthest Star).
The Movies: Kirk's journey. Spock's acceptance of who he is. The Kirk/Spock/McCoy dynamic.
TNG: The relationships: Riker/Worf, Geordi/Data, Deanna/Beverly.
DS9: The writing. Things like the development of Nog, the growth of Odo, and the unexpected stories like In The Pale Moonlight. It still blows me away.
VOY: I haven't watched a lot of it, but I really liked Janeway and deeply appreciated finally having a woman Captain.
ENT: I haven't watched much of it. NA
DIS: Saru! One of the best and most interesting characters since Spock.
SNW: It's FUN. There's a lightness to it that I just adore.
LD: Funny as hell and a loving tribute and satire of what's come before. Also, I really get Mariner. I love watching her journey.
PRO: Seeing Star Trek through new eyes and loving it all over again. Watching the kids learn to work together and the love they have for each other.

TOS: The fight music
TAS: Mm...I've only ever watched the Counterclock Incident. And the one with an Andorian.
TNG: Shakespeare
DS9: Everything
VOY: Opera
ENT: Hmmm....the uniforms. Very believeable as frontier uniforms. Bit like ISS uniforms.
DSC: Jason Isaacs, then Anson Mount.
PIC: The third season.
SNW: EVERY DAMN THING
LOWER DECKS! LOWER DECKS! LOWER DECKS!
ST Prodigy: eh, haven't watched it.

  • TOS: Redshirts!
  • TNG: The recurring characters and guest stars (Ro, Q, Barclay, Sela...)
  • DS9: The worldbuilding, especially for the Trill and the Mirror Universe
  • Voyager: The ragtag main cast, especially Seven of Nine and B'Elanna Torres
  • ENT: The Andorians and Aenar
  • Abrams: My dad's hilarious nerd-rages, especially over Khan
  • DISCO: JETT F-CKING RENO
  • PIC: Replacing the novelverse continuity with one that actually builds off of "Voyager's" contributions to the saga instead of retconning them.
  • Strange New Worlds: It took four tries but they finally figured out how to do a proper prequel, thats just the right amount of everything
  • Lower Decks: Finally "Star Trek" just full on embeaces its sillier aspects, and for the first time in decades stops taking itself so frakking seriously
  • Prodigy: The "Voyager" stuff
  • Section 31: It's a movie, and not another whole show I have to try to keep up with

Reactions: JLA
tos - cowboys in space, the final frontier

Tng - family positivity hope

Ds9 - diversity of character and race and strength against evil when hope is lost. Star treks Mahabharata or War and Peace or the Illiad.

Voy - family stick together. Lost in space.

Ent - cowboys in space 2. Baby steps.

Dsc - absolutely no real redeeming qualities... except for spawning SNW

Snw - the best of tng, ds9 and tos.

Ld - funny and lots of great callbacks and visiting old characters

Prod - great to introduce trek to kids!

Restricting it to the first five shows: Scotty, Worf, Odo, the song the Doctor soothed Tuvok with and the tampered shirt in ''Practical Joker.''

TOS: Actors. Characters. The general culture which reflected Roddenberry's military experience.
TAS: Haven't seen much, but they introduced Robert April.
TNG: Picard's speeches. The role of Shakespeare and music.
DS9: Everything but Profit and Lace.
VOY: Picardo, Ryan, and Mulgrew had some GREAT acting. Liked the musical episodes.
ENT: The uniforms. Very functional for pioneers.
DSC: Jason Isaacs
PIC: Picard had a son.
PROD: Uh....Janeway's in it, I guess? Haven't watched it.
SNW: Everything but especially Anson Mount and Christina Chong
Lower Decks: Chaotic fun

I didn't realize I'd already done this. Glad to see I am consistent.

TOS; The character chemistry.
TAS: Smart kids TV
TNG: It brought Trek back to TV where it belongs
DS9: The Cast, both regular and reoccurring.
VOY: Seven of Nine
ENT: The design work: ship, uniforms, sets and props.
DISCO: A great cast.
PIC: The Romulans all together for the first time.
PRO: Beautiful art.
SNW: Brilliant reimagining of Star Trek
LD: Starfleet Nerds

I'll give it credit for checking off the diversity boxes, allowing subsequent Treks to focus more on just being Trek.
On reflection, I would say Lorca, Georgiou, Reno as well were some positives in terms of interesting characters and actors that brought them to life. I felt DSC sorta waved its arms around and did EVERYTHING around supposed diversity with no real relatable reason to do it, other than to say hey we ticked all the boxes..whereas the irony was the show itself never felt it had an identity and felt rudderless. Would say DS9 'ticked' less boxes but did it on a more nuanced level. I'm still not convinced in future if history will look on DSC as favourably as other shows

TOS: Broke a lot of rules and really pushed the boundaries of what was acceptable on TV in the 60s.

TNG: Respected the intelligence of the audience, for the most part.

DS9: The way it explored what happens when you push Federation values right to to breaking point.

VOY: 7 of 9, the Doctor, and the way they delved into unexplored territory.

ENT: The sets, props, costumes, cast, the Xindi arc, and the rough around the edges feel.

DSC: The way it wasn't afraid to take big risks and try things that may or may not work out.

SNW: The way it basically reimagines TOS for the modern day.

Can't really comment on the rest as I haven't seen it all.
