Favorite DS9 one-liners?

Appropriate that Quark got the last piece of dialogue in the series.

It was nicely done. However they could have given the last dialogue to Sisko and Jake, Sisko coming back to Jake to talk about where he was now. That would have been a nice bookend with the Jake fishing in the holodeck scene in the pilot.

I see where you're coming from, and I agree somewhat. I think it fits Quark better only because he has been on the station longer than anyone, even Odo.

I would have preferred he have a vision and talk to Jake, too, but one thing makes me feel it was not an oversight.

He remembers those flashes into Jake's future in "THE VISITOR", and despite that future not being accurate anymore, he has some sense of knowing Jake will have a good future. (A career, a wife, being happy, etc.) Which I think is why he talked to Kasidy instead of Jake... her future and their baby's future is unknown to him.

It also somewhat explains why in "CHILDREN OF TIME", it was O'Brien who was vehemently against going back in time instead of Sisko, despite them both having kids. Until O'Brien worked in the fields with new Molly, and went to Sisko and Sisko didn't even put up an argument about going back to the station.

Your version is a nice thought and I think it would have worked, as well.

I can’t believe no one mentioned the most famous line from DS9:

Q: “You hit me! Picard never hit me!”
Sisko: “I am not Picard!”

I re-watched the series recently and I was a little disappointed that in the last episode Morn was not allowed to speak

What was that line that the G-man said? "Of course I'm paranoid: everyone is trying to kill me!"

I like the part where a Vulcan - highly intelligent and well-educated - didn't grasp the basics of economics. Okay, give Quark/Shimmerman his time to shine, but at least have the Vulcan begin to drive the train of thought out of the station before the Ferengi takes it across the county.

She probably didn’t think of it in terms of economics, since the economics of the future are quite different.

Federation members interact with non-Federation species (which results in exposure to their accompanying economic systems) and history - presumably - remains a subject. Plus, Vulcans are among the most intelligent species. Something...anything. Even a fragmented understanding instead of complete ignorance (so that the writer(s) could pimp the Ferengi over Vulcans) would have been preferable.

Perhaps it isn’t that she did not understand economics, but considered it beneath her ( she felt she has higher priorities)

I don't really feel the issue was that Sakonna couldn't understand the argument Quark presented...indeed, once it was presented to her, she ultimately agreed with it...but rather, that he approached it from an angle she hadn't previously considered. Vulcans tend to be very intelligent and very logical, but they don't necessarily consider every possible situation from every possible angle, and if there's one scenario where a Ferengi might be more astute than a Vulcan, it certainly should be an economic one.

I agree: it is their bread and butter and - if their religion is true - their raison d'etre. It's simply the fact that she didn't offer much of anything for Quark to examine and say "I can see you know a thing or two about business, but I know more." or any line similar to that effect before he took her to school. Imagine choosing any species other than Human and showing them to be fully in the dark concerning diplomacy in order for the Human - apparently the mediator for most alien cultures - to give them a lesson in matters of (non-mercantile) negotiation. Anyhow, I suppose when it comes to Vulcan bashing, this is tame compared to prejudicial Vulcan ("Take Me Out To The Holosuite") or homicidal Vulcan ("Field of Fire").

That's kind of my point though...I don't think Sakonna was fully in the dark about anything, the show just didn't feel a need to establish her credentials or lack thereof.

I thought Quark’s speech to Garek about root beer was an interesting “outsider looking in” perspective about the Federation.
