Who is your Favorite and least favorite character and why?
Favorite: Elim Garak, he is hands down my favorite because he is so mysterious, throughout the entire series you never know EVERYTHING about him. There are so many times when you think he has betrayed everyone, only to turn around and have done it all in a convoluted scheme to help the crew of DS9.
Least Favorite: Kai Winn, Not once did I ever enjoy her character. She was in my eyes the most evil of the characters because she used her religion and her power in the eyes of her followers to commit evil deeds. Not to mention her final act of crazy in the last few episodes of DS9. I hated everything about her.
But the thing is those uniforms aren't JUST costumes. The writers are trying to portray how actual military would act, I being military felt more connected to Sisko than any other captain because he was one of the only captains who actually acted military.
BTW, does anyone else feel Visitor was more attractive in WYLB than in Emissary and, perhaps, more attractive now than she was in WYLB?
actually, when we get court martialed or NJP'd they always say "you swore an allegiance to your country, to your flag, and to you uniform that you would act in a way that portrays the navy in a positive light." or something along those lines. our uniforms hold the beliefs we are fighting for, it's right there in the ribbons rack. I'm not upset or anything, just giving you as much info as possible in response you your earlier question. But the thing is those uniforms aren't JUST costumes. I admit I'm not military and would never want to be, my personality and belief systems are all wrong for that sort of life.
But is it not the ideal you swear allegiance to, not the jacket and slacks? The way I see it the uniform is just a tool that provides certain functions (like recognition) not an ideal by itself.
So, to me, it would have made more sense if he had said "you've betrayed Starfleet" not "you've betrayed your jumpsuit!"
Besides that Starfleet is not a modern day army, it's a semi-military organization in the far future, why would he act like a military commander today?
