Far Beyond the Stars....

I also came across something - I mentioned a comic that was banned for almost the same reason as the story. The final panel the hero takes off his helmet ...

I like the episode now more, as the comic was banned in 1953 and it also shows on how far we have come, "Far beyond the stars", like the distant stars in the last panel of the comic.

That's interesting, good find, any idea what the comic was/is called?

It is called "Judgement Day" and was published by EC comics (One of there last ones as they where upset by the censorship.) The plot line is that of a Human Astronaut, as a Representative of the Galactic republic, visit a world of robots, where there are Orange and Blue Robots, functionally they are identical, but one has more rights then the other. so he judges them not ready to join the republic.

Type in "Judgement Day EC Comics" and you will find plenty of info, I would link it (the comic) directly but I am not sure if it is public domain or not, and I don't want to get in trouble with the mods.

It was first published in 1953 in "Weird Fantasy #18" (Pre-code) and was rejected for the 1956 publication of "Incredible science fiction #33 in 1956 as it did not meet Comic code due to the main character being black.

I never really cared for this episode. It has its moments, but as a whole the episode doesn't do much for me. My two favorite parts of the episode are: 1) seeing everyone without their alien makeup and 2) IT's REEEAAALL!
