Fans, why do you like VOY?

I watched because I loved the characters. I continue watching and read fanfiction because of the unrealized possibiities of J/C. ;)
This goes for me too. It's what kept me watching the show in spite of it's flaws and finally brought me to the boards.

Using that laughing smilie so much comes off as really obnoxious.

(Look who's talking...)

It all comes down to the characters, really. If you take them as your own, you do watch all the episodes because of them. That's all there is to it. :)

What I like about VOY:

1) The OVERALL story (getting home to the Alpha Quadrant) in addition to the story of each individual episode. That's the same reason I like the Dominion War in DS9 (same reason).

2) The ability to explore new species (being the only starship in the quadrant helps)

3) 7 of 9  Seriously though, exploring the Borg was a great idea (IMO). VOY was an opportunity to explore the Borg in their own part of the galaxy.

4) The integration of two crews.

I like Voyager because of the premise and also because the Big Three - Janeway, the Doctor and Seven - to be the most interesting group of characters to appear in Trek.

Continuing the theme: I like it for the characters. In all the other Trek variants, I was indifferent to at least half the crew. In Voyager I liked nearly everyone (sorry, Neelix, but you were almost always annoying).

It had a sense of family that I liked; one which I didn't get from any of the other shows.

To add to my list from earlier, I LOVE the theme music.

<EDIT> I edited my post to make it more clear. </EDIT>

There is no theme song, just a theme tune.

Before anyone questions this, I must point out that technically this is true. By original definition, a song has lyrics. Common parlance tends to ignore this.

That technically makes TOS's theme the only Trek theme song, even if the version on the show didn't use the lyrics.

Carry on.

I like Voy. because it's not as heavy as TNG or DS9 is in terms of mood.
Don't get me wrong, I adore both TNG & DS9 but sometimes you just wanna fun adventure story without to heavy of a message and Voyager fits that bill.

I enjoyed the premise of VOY. I liked the fact that the crew or the main characters are not made up of near perfect personalities. In fact, I would say that VOYAGER's crew was more needed than Picard's crew. Three, I liked their two-part stories more than the other series. Four, I liked their finale more than I did the other series. I liked their holodeck programs more than the others. The series features my favorite Trek episode of all time.

But the main reason I liked VOY so much was the ensemble cast. They were an interesting bunch.

Actually, VOY could be just as heavy as TNG or DS9. I don't know where in the hell it got its reputation for being light. Is it because it wasn't another BSG - true to Ron Moore's overrated heart?

The whole fact that the crew are pretty much warm and cosy 100% of the time on their perfect ship undermines any attempt at gritiness (of which there were few)

He may pretend not to be himself but just some random Star Trek fan so he could start a thread criticising every episode of Voyager and point out how BSG is better. You would be able to tell it was him because his ego would show through in his choice of name.

Moore is a popular Irish name, and if you listen to his podcasts then you know that the man knows his drink.

I'm just throwing this out there. :)
