Evidence of SNW being a possible alternate timeline from TOS

Not what the video says.

First the second civil war…
… then the Eugenics War…
THEN WWIII.

It still doesn't matter. SNW is an alternate reality anyway. No Civil war has happened and its been 6 years since the capital incident. So if we stick with the 1990s in the prime universe it makes sense. The prime universe was never meant to be ours no matter what SNW thinks or tries to make it.

You keep moving those goal posts.

Considering the fact that the series premiered after the Capital Riots (kinda had to since, ya know, they used footage from them), SNW was never intended to be our future. It’s a cautionary tale.

It's hilarious that you just can't accept that it wasn't the supposedly canon-obliterating SNW that retconned the Eugenics Wars. You've built up this belief that the people behind SNW have deliberately spit on the franchise because they don't care about precious canon, only to find out that it was the Great Bird himself and the golden child that is TNG who actually spit in your face. Hilarious.

The Klingon race was part of the refit??? :D

That's a good point. This is where the juxtaposition of "they actually did change something in-universe" (the refit) and "they made a change with the idea that this was how it was always supposed to look" (the Klingons) comes in. So apparently you can actually have both things at the same time (until ENT comes in and tries to explain it all.)

Reminds me of all the arguments of the Xindi conflict being a source of contention among fandom all because… nobody bothered to mention it in previous Trek. As if to suggest that merely not speaking of it at all must mean it never happened.

I don’t think I’ve ever discussed the Mexican-American war with anyone for the past 20 years. I guess that means me mentioning it at all must mean it’s been retconned into our history! OH NO CONTINUITY ERROR!!!

What I found more annoying were the people who tried manipulating references in the other Treks to be about the Xindi. TNG mentioned the Xendi star system. THAT MUST BE A REFERENCE TO THE XINDI! References to the Kzinti or Tzenkethi. THOSE NAMES SOUND LIKE XINDI! Jarada are an insectoid race? THERE ARE XINDI INSECTOIDS!

This even got inverted when Beyond came out and Krall talks about fighting the Xindi and there were many who thought he was talking about the Kzinti.

No it was SNW. WWIII in TNG was never ever said to be the eugenics war.

Well, no. Since you're obviously not going to be convinced TNG made this change, how about another pre-SNW Trek series? Specifically Enterprise, in the episode Hatchery, Archer mentions his great-grandfather fought in the Eugenics Wars. 1990s would be too far back for a great-grandfather, but the 2050s (which is when FC established WWIII occurred) would be just the right time period for a great-grandfather. So Enterprise at least did seem to treat the Eugenics Wars and WWIII as the same, or at the very least, as happening at the same time.

They literally explained in the movie why everything looks different.

Well you're the only one that thinks that, apparently.

you want to think that TMP is an alternate universe just because you can't fathom that a ship can be rebuilt in two years with 23rd century technology, that's your choice.
I believe there is a good answer from poster here that sums up my feelings.
That is true. And despite that, I may interpret it as I please. :)

Then this thread is over.

And ENT is a Berman Era, "correct" series. Unless now it isn't? :)

Nevermind the year, Trek can’t get the casualties of WWIII right…

With figures from 37 million (“Bread and Circuses” (TOS), “In a Mirror Darkly” (ENT)) to 600 million (Star Trek: First Contact, “In the Flesh” (VOY), “New Eden” (DSC), hard to really know that figure.

In my head canon, the 37 million death toll is just from the Khan/Augments part of the wider conflict, the Eugenics Wars themselves. After those wars end and Khan disappears into history aboard the Botany Bay, then the REALLY awful death tolls begin, culminating in the nuclear exchange of 2053.

Right. They are paramount now. So we shall see. Going to be several years till we know though.
Depends on how the new owners want to do things.

I don't think they will, but they could absolutely speed production of a new series if they wanted to.

I’ve always chalked that up to those big explosions decimating major cities at the start of the war having generating EMP’s that killed most of the computers that would’ve cataloged more accurate numbers.

Well only a movie has been mentioned. So I'm going with that for now. I don't think we will get a new series anytime soon. But who knows. One thing is for sure, right now anyways they are not interested in the Roddenberry/Berman or Kurtzman eras. I'm good with that.
