Evidence of SNW being a possible alternate timeline from TOS

I can see that there might be a discrepancy between the two events such that someone could interpret them as being two different things, based on info from both TOS and TNG. But I'm not sure why such a discrepancy would be so problematic. Again, this is just a continuity error, one of many in the last 60 years of Star Trek. I would think that a whole visual reboot would be far more of a contention point than the date for WWIII.
It is.

It's why I treat TMP as separate.

Neither of those fit as well with TOS as I would like. A refit doesn't explain it.

There was no refit in SNW. CBS wants the audience to believe that this was always how the ship looked, despite another one of their productions showing a Constitution class looking like it did in TOS.

The TMP refit was a two year project where the ship was physically rebuilt from head to toe, and the uniforms were changed from TOS. Not sure how that's so hard to understand.

I mean, George Lucas also wants people to believe that the Old Republic stood for both 1,000 generations and 1,000 years. When stuff contradicts onscreen, it's up to the fans to make up explanations, and an offscreen refit between SNW and TOS is as good an explanation as any.

Pike says it explicitly in the first episode of SNW.

One of my favorite Trek scenes ever.

He had me at "Hi, sorry to interrupt."

Any previous chronology has been deliberately revised and overwritten by the studio. So anything said in earlier installments is moot.

If nothing else from SNW, we've gotten this, easily in the top five of the most emotionally powerful scenes in Star Trek.

But that is not what CBS is saying. They are saying that the ship has always looked this way.

I have decided I'm not listening to what CBS says . 😂....they can't keep anything straight as it is. I'm just gonna say every man or woman for themselves. Keep what you want in Canon and throw the rest out. TOS-Ent is generally good for me. Everything else is just separate. Except maybe Picard. The other stuff is just that other stuff that fits really badly but can be good sometimes on its own merits.

Because the look doesn't fit.

Not sure why this is hard to understand. I'm afraid them saying, "this is almost an entirely new Enterprise" doesn't work for me as the ship doesn't line up and neither do the characters for a two year change.

So, neither fit well. But, within SNW there's time travel that lets me work with it as a parallel timeline branch with similar stories to TOS.

Disney also now basically says that agents of shield and agent carter isn't canon (it's not even in the timeline reference guides etc) and most marvel fans ignore that

Actually it supports my theory. They called it different things as time went by.1990s Khan(eugenics war). 2010s to 2020 Trump(the video shows the capital) civil war starts. Than by the 2040s or early 2050s kablooey. Nuclear war. World War III. By 2053 it was over and in 2963 Cochranes Warp Drive. Thanks for the video. It cleared things up perfectly. Yup. 🙂

Eugenics War 1990s
Civil War 2020s to 40s
WWIII Late 40s to 2053.

They literally explained in the movie why everything looks different.

Well you're the only one that thinks that, apparently.

If you want to think that TMP is an alternate universe just because you can't fathom that a ship can be rebuilt in two years with 23rd century technology, that's your choice.

Actually. It just says kirk was at a desk for two years. The crew has aged more than two years from the looks of it. It could be 5 years after the mission for all we know. But yeah TMP is not an alternate universe. Lol. It fits well with TOS.

Not what the video says.

This is Earth in our 21st century. Before everything went wrong. It's a lot like your world today. Recently I was treated to a glimpse of my future. It was not all I'd hoped. After all, what good is there in knowing your future? A friend of mine asked me that recently and... didn't understand what he meant. Until now. I've seen my future. Let me show you yours. Our conflict also started with a fight for freedoms. We called it the Second Civil War, then the Eugenics War, and finally just World War III.

First the second civil war…
… then the Eugenics War…
THEN WWIII.
