Still not how canon works.
Let me guess whatever the current people in charge says is canon...correct?

Still not how canon works.
That's how canon works.Let me guess whatever the current people in charge says is canon...correct?![]()
Canon is the collected works of the franchise. Your likes and dislikes are irrelevant to canon. Various retcons are irrelevant to canon. Canon remains the movies and tv shows produced by the owners of the IP, be they Desilu, Paramount or CBS. As consumers we don’t get a say in canon, just in what things in the franchise we like or dislike.Let me guess whatever the current people in charge says is canon...correct?![]()

Fans have no say in canon, or the official body of work because *checks notes* fans have no official role in the production of the show.
No, they have removed things from continuity. Though as often happens things slip back in when you least expect it. Have a Happy Life Day,So the Star Wars Droids are part of the film canon..?The Holiday Special.??
franchises have de-canonized things before.
Will he?I get that. But if both are Canon Pike has a huge problem when he goes back to Vina.
Yes. He has a doppelganger to deal with. Will he?
They'll just conveniently forget about that.Yes. He has a doppelganger to deal with.
No he won't.I get that. But if both are Canon Pike has a huge problem when he goes back to Vina.
What happens when Canon disagrees with Canon? Later canon takes precedence, the scriptwriters all had access to Gene's character guide and Spock's was being revised almost show by show by DC Fontana. If a later show violates it, it's bad scriptwriting or being done to drive the plot....like the card game Fluxx, the new canon still takes precedence!Still not how canon works.
Is there, really? This poll/discussion is specifically directed to those who has seen substantial amounts of both the TOS era and Strange New Worlds.
There seems to be some growing sentiment within the fanbase- not necessarily against Ethan Peck, but not liking how Spock is being written in SNW.
Why?Later canon takes precedence
Well something has to be the truth, or else there is no truth. Why?
So TNG means more than TOS, so we discard TOS about the Eugenics Wars?![]()
Then both are canon. What happens when Canon disagrees with Canon?
Then canon is a meaningless term, at least when it comes to a discussion about continuity. Then both are canon.
Canon and continuity are two entirely different things. Always have been. Then canon is a meaningless term, at least when it comes to a discussion about continuity.
That’s called continuity. What happens when Canon disagrees with Canon? Later canon takes precedence, the scriptwriters all had access to Gene's character guide and Spock's was being revised almost show by show by DC Fontana. If a later show violates it, it's bad scriptwriting or being done to drive the plot....like the card game Fluxx, the new canon still takes precedence!
It’s fiction.Well something has to be the truth, or else there is no truth.
No.Then canon is a meaningless term, at least when it comes to a discussion about continuity.
