I guess I will see it on Disney+ in January. Still not comfortable going to the theaters yet. Maybe this summer.

The film was originally going to have a much darker ending:
You end the film with several of our heroes being whisked away to God knows where, to face God knows what, and the final shot is of Dane Whitman [Harrington] looking a little bit bereft, but also determined to do something about it. Was that always how the film ended for you?
No. I have never made a film where the ending is what I wrote! You find it in the edit. Editing is a third of the filmmaking process, and when you show it to people, that's when you find the ending. I don't think I've made a single film where the opening and ending stay the same as the script, just because the scenes are fluid as we shoot. And we actually had another ending that is really bleak. Bleak. I didn't hate it, because I'm used to films that are more melancholy. But I don't think it went down well with audiences.
How bleak are we talking here?
It used to end with everybody back on the ship, minds erased and just going on to another planet, like The Twilight Zone. I remember when it goes to black, everyone was like, "I don't know what to do." And also, it's the MCU, and you want to be excited for what's next.
The interview also addresses one of my criticisms: Why Kingo didn't return for the climatic battle. I couldn't find a good reason for it but I like Zhao's reasoning for it, i.e. subverting fan expectations.

I honestly was hoping the "subverted" thing at the end would be that the Eternals wouldn't be able to join into the Uni-Mind to stop the Celestial on their own....and they only way they could would be with Kro's help. He'd used his energy absorbing powers to link all of them with him channeling their energies to form the Uni-Mind.
Yeah, I would've liked that take, too.
I'm not really familiar with the Eternals in the comics, so I didn't go into this with any particular expectations. Overall I found the movie entertaining enough. I liked the use of a few classic pop and rock songs, which didn't go overboard. I wish they had done more with Kro as a character.

I was thinking they couldn't do it without Kingo--and kept expecting him to show. I do like your idea though; it fits more with the comics where the Deviants are not entirely evil and
Kro and Thena are romantically involved, on again/off again lovers.
So I finally got around to seeing this and I have to say it was quite good. I didn’t like the ending that saw them getting dragged away from their Earthly lives.
Also, and this just me, but I hope in upcoming MCU movies there is some mention of the MASSIVE marble fingers and part of a head sticking out of the Indian Ocean. Can you imagine the scramble to harvest all of that for home improvement projects and the price that will fetch? LOL!

Meh, hard C way to long.
One BIG Crit for me.. Why in the #=\&=×_ was Pip played by cgi and not a real dwarf/little guy? That just pissed me off.

Complete junk. An overly long, poorly paced, badly written snooze-fest. Not a single compelling or even likable character, and every single actor acted like they were sleepwalking through their roles, probably because of bad directing from Zhao, who obviously should have kept making arthouse crap and not been allowed to try to make a real movie. That said, Richard Madden (Ikaris) was just shit, I doubt even a decent director could have helped him. He was like the British (Scottish?) version of Mark Wahlberg from The Happening, except not unintentionally funny like that performance was.
It was impressive how much the movie hates Jack Kirby and his creations, with both the entire premise and literally every character completely unrecognizable as any version of The Eternals. Its like how Zack Snyder fucked over the New Gods, except I think even he at least read a wikipedia entry on characters like Darkseid, while I'm pretty sure this movie was just the names of the Eternals slapped onto random characters in the script, with maybe one person telling the people making it things like what powers each Eternal should emphasize and things like Sprite's situation.
The movie doesn't quite piss me off as much as Ant-Man & The wasp, and didn't irritate me as much as Spider-Man Homecoming/Far From Home, so I'd put it as "only" the 4th worst MCU film, but its definitely a bad movie and not one I'd watch again. It really doesn't even need to be watched once, its basically completely irrelevant to anything else anyway (not that it would be better if it was connected, but its not even worth a begrudging hate watch as it is).
D-, and it only gets that high of a rating because of the three worse MCU films that I mentioned.

I was hoping it would be more different from all the talk, but it still looked and felt like an MCU film. Which makes sense, but, some variation would be nice.
I really dislike the "Ancient Aliens" explanation for humanities development & also the "Humans are monsters but also noble so let's save them" trope and since this movie was all about both of them it wasn't designed for me.
Still, it was competently made and while I don't plan on watching it again it was fine.

Just got through it.
I would not have recognized Styles, but Patton is unmistakable.

It's never a good sign when i pick up my phone after 20 minutes into the movie. I liked the overall cosmic story but the team itself was so bland - it just never clicked with me. I think Marvel made its first big misstep there by abandoning their formula and presenting us a finished team with all of its backstory established and then asking us to care for them when we don't know a single one of them.
What made the MCU so great is that Marvel took its time and developed the core characters of the Avengers over several movies before they put them together - by that time they didn't have to "waste" time establishing backstories but could get right into the story. Here they went the DC route and fell into the same trap which killed Justice League and the first Suicide Squad.
Judging from interviews Marvel believes they made one hell of an awesome movie and will likely continue with sequels so their overall story can be told but everywhere i look people are kinda meh about the movie ( including me).
