or she was given all her powers in her tragic and unseen backstory
Which hopefully The Rise of Skywalker will answer, which is what we should be discussing in this thread. I'm out.

all I did was respond to your post that there is little difference between Rey and Luke.. I answered fairly. you posted I answered..Which hopefully The Rise of Skywalker will answer, which is what we should be discussing in this thread. I'm out.

sure, but those dismissive comments are only used when looking at something in retrospect. But to just wave everything off like that is being disingenuous.. we all want to be invested in these franchises, whether it's star trek or star wars or anything else, and as such we have to be in a world where the creators are following the rules or guidelines already established. That's a long way of saying that this stuff does matter.. .. first world problems.. but it does matter. Its a series about moon-sized space stations that can destroy entire planets, space wizards, laser swords, a mystical Force that controls everything. It is my favorite movie series and I love every minute of it, but I honestly take it about as seriously as it should be taken.
I'll meet you half way. she has a lot of possible talent. Her best scene in both films in my opinion was the look on her face when she first took the portions. That is a strong female character, no chaser. In fact, she was very strong in her quiet introductory scenes and her torture scene. She has talent. But it also took the director to hone that talent, since she is new at this acting thing. He knew he had to spend time with her to get the perfect performance form her, especially in those key scenes by herself.. So she has 50% talent and good direction made up for the other 50%.All I’ll say is: if Rey was being played by anyone of less charisma/talent, this trilogy simply would not work. Daisy Ridley is the glue holding the whole thing together.
Then turn it off. You seriously didn't notice?or maybe my capslock button was on bro

Mods: can we move this Mary Sue bullshit to its own thread? I come here to read stuff about the Rise of Skywalker, not this crap.

So, Threepio in the new trailer... What's going on there? Other than bringing a tear to my eye?
I'm not the one that brought up mary sue, I was just responding to it.Maybe it's not, but it's been done to death, it's toxic, and it's dominating the thread when we should all be discussing the recent trailer, and you know damn well this could have a thread all on it's own, but I'm guessing you know that if it did, it would get fuck all response from the rest of us as we're all tired of it. Go on, I dare ya.
my guess is that they are trying to clear his memory, but all of who he is and what he remembered could be lost, but they need him to this . Matches the leaks I've heard .. but I won't say what they are.So, Threepio in the new trailer... What's going on there? Other than bringing a tear to my eye?
i actually agree.. yet the rules might not be hard and fast, and they are not written anywhere, but the viewer knows when something feels "off" and that vague notion might be enoughI don't think the first time I saw Star Wars at the age of 2 I really gave a shit about the rules. I cared about the joy I had by watching an adventure in space with good and evil. And if you keep the rules exactly the same, the story gets boring. In my opinion (and yours can and obviously does differ), nothing seen in Disney Star Wars has been too far off base to not be believable. Its a fantastical story and always has been. Could I take everything far too seriously and let it affect my enjoyment of aspects of Star Wars? Sure. And I have. I went a long time with taking this shit too seriously. But this is supposed to be FUN. I'm enjoying myself still. It ain't perfect, but its fun. And to me, that's all that matters.
Calling it now, he's getting killed - through is that too obvious?

Ah, the old obscenity rule. I can't describe it but I know it when I see it.i actually agree.. yet the rules might not be hard and fast, and they are not written anywhere, but the viewer knows when something feels "off" and that vague notion might be enough
