You know, a good thing to note here is how positive the general reaction seems to be over just one picture.

Oh c'mon, who would paint the name and numbers on the hull of their starship before it is completed - what if it gets scratched

I didn't think everyone would be happy with this design...![]()
I've already stated my opinion on the design. Which is I like it. But I also think that the nacelles will probably still look like that.
As far as James Cawley's dissastifaction goes, it's clear that the design is not identical to the TOS Enterprise; there are more lines on the hull and Cary L. Brown has noted that a slightly different font is used.

I'm a bit worried about the reaction so far. We're mostly all drooling over this one small pic. If we see this thing launch from the yards some of us will need to be carried from the theater. Myself included.

About the nacelles. You're not thinking they are curving inward are you? As far as I can tell, they are the same dome shaped fans but lack the actual dome, nor i there any back lighting. I think this creating a difficult optical effect.
The 'airplane' comment from the description of the trailer, and some comments I've read here, make me wonder if that's what people are seeing. I can certainly see that, I had to look carefully to understand.

I triple dog dare people here to, when they see the first sight of the new ship onscreen, scream "They got the nacelles wrong!" from their seats.

They get a cap. The turbines are meant to give the layman some idea of the inner workings of the engine systems. It also gives the nacelles a more "muscular" look.

This is exactly how it should look in a motion picture made in 2008. Looks fantastic.

I expect some of that to happen.
