Enterprise Bridge Console - discuss!

So... how did that picture or Abrams sitting at the station console originate? Was someone from Trekmovie.com on set? Or did Abrams send it on?

My understanding is that one of the people on set (Orci?) fired off a couple of camera phone pics.

WELL, i'll say this it's not DARK !

It's really BRIGHT and colorful, well there goes the nuBSG argument right out the window !

How retarded is it to say that?

I suppose also because you see the fabric on the chair is gold that means we can jump to other conclusions, like the uniforms are updated TOS uniforms?

ROFL.

Well, after nearly everyone saying the "Corridor" image was too dark must mean it's like nuBGS all dark and gloomy.

So here we have the flip-side of that image ;)

Looks very much that they are aiming for a look set between the show and TMP, which makes sense. A little TMP and a little TOS all mixed together.

And I love the big multi-colored ice cube candy buttons remaining intact, set into a black inlay, just like those in TOS. Just enough to retain some of that TOS look. And best of all.. NO STUPID LCARS! Nice.

So the movie will have a scene where someone tries to hack into the Enterprise's computer with a mac? How original

With any luck, it's a set piece for a future or alien ship.

The caption on trekmovie.com says

JJ Abrams takes a station on the bridge of the Enterprise to chat with fans

Somehow I don't think so... besides looking at the "cleaned version" and the picture where Abrams has been photosphoped out (guessing whomever did that extrapolated from what they could see - bit of movie forensics LOL) it looks very "classic" and yet updated.

I find myself liking how the buttons and keypads seem to be backlit but flat archiving an effect of "LCARS" without actually being those - THANK GOD! They fit, I was just staring at that pic and can almost feel the rest of the bridge in my mind's eye. Makes me drool!

OH- that's what trekmovie.com says... IT must be correct then.

If this is the bridge, the evidence continues to mount that this is not Star Trek TOS, but Star Trek re-boot... But JJ said they weren't doing that. So I'm confused here. I guess the new BSG wasn't a re-boot either.

I was just pointing it out, since trekmovie.com is where this picture was first posted...

I still fail to see why this would be so horrible...

If that's what it was, it would be just fine. Great, in fact.

What we actually know, though, is that things will look different than they used to. That's not a narrative reboot, so it's not very important to continuity.

As far as people continuing to react in surprise and anger to each new demonstration that this 130 million dollar movie doesn't look like TOS, that's long since past the point of being equivalent to shock that gambling is going on at Rick's Cafe Americain.

Where is the hatred for the Star Trek IV The Voyage Home Starfleet LCARS coming from!? :wtf:

Its better than TNG's.

Anyway.

Wooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaa Bwa ha!

They mixed the TOS & Star Trek V bridges.

:applause:

I didn't mean to make it seem like a personal attact on your statement. I am just frustrated that this is looking more like a Star Trek movie that takes place around the turn of 2270's. It's a new ship, a new bridge, and a new story. The only thing that seems to be the same is the names of everything. Why JJ couldn't have just made a new moive with new characters is beyond me- He's using the names to bring in fans and the general public that are familiar with those names.

Let's face it, most of the non trek fans who go see this movie are going to go see it because of JJ's name attached to it- i.e. Lost fans, Cloverfield fans, et c.

I don't want to dump on anyone who likes what they see so far, but it's a re-boot, and there was no need for it. A new ship with a new crew set in the 2270's could have worked. A re-boot wasn't needed. Move on to something else, or something new. Re-boots are lazy.

But these won't be Star Trek fans, they'll be nuTrek fans, and it remains to be seen whether that will be great or not.

and it's a fake- a rip off. Here's a comparison I made on another thread.

"If you take a classic car, say the original Mustang, and put it next to an 07 Mustang, they both have the same name, but they are NOT the same car, and no one would try to pass one off on the other. An 07 isn't even a slight alteration- it stole some design elements and they made an entirely new car. It's NOT the same. It's not even a remake. It's a new car that has the same name... But if you take that same old Mustang, fix it up, put in some re-tooled parts, a few modern stuff, you still the essence of that original model left intact."

JJ is making a whole new car, a reboot, but claiming to just modify a classic.

So sure, you can say there's nothing wrong with it, that is if JJ didn't make claims that this wasn't a re-boot. But he did, and that's what's wrong with it. Don't tell me one thing, do another, and expect me not to be critical.

If one likes both old Trek and nuTrek, it will be great.

The propagation of Trek fandom is rather too close to the methodology of the Shaker movement for comfort, anyway.
