Enterprise bridge....2nd turbolift?

^^Then again, TMP tried to get away with pretending that access to the docking port behind the bridge was via a rotating turbolift...

Did they ever show other type of access to the other rooms on the top deck of the Voyager? Through that closet door in Janeway's ready room, perhaps?

They must be these kind of urinals then...

Which is a very neat way to do it.
Saves a lot of space not adding another corridor.
But since DISCOVERY has increased the size of EVERYTHING, I guess space-saving structures is a moot point.

Then you must have HATED TOS!
Here's my personal "in my mind" explanation for the offset lift door in TOS....

The actual turbolift shaft is in fact directly behind the bridge, in line from the center of the viewscreen through the centor of the bridge, through the captain's chair, etc. (and the captain chair and viewscreen are in the center along the long access of the ship).

However, the door leading to the lift car is not along that centerline, and that's because the lift doors we see do not lead to the shaft itself. Rather, each lift has multiple cars, and each lift stop has a little alcove in the shaft in which the cars -- upon reaching their destination -- slide "sideways" into before opening. This allows the shaft to stay clear so other cars could use it.

So the doors we see outside the lift are the doors that lead to the little alcove in which the lift cars slide into after arriving.

This also allows multiple cars to be waiting at each stop so if one person got in the turbolift at left, another car would immediately slide into place, allowing someone to use the lift from that same door right away without waiting for the car to return.

Again, this isn't necessarily true in-universe, and maybe only true in my head. :D

That's mine as well. Slide over-then drops.

That hallway around the DSC version of the 1701 bridge can't go all the way 'round because of the HUD viewport (and the existence of said viewport makes sense to me). The hallway should lead to washroom(s), back-of-console access panels, non-turbolift accessways to/from the bridge deck, etc., as suggested by the Franz Joseph material.

You know, I never cared about the second turbolift thingy (or lack there of) on the original Enterprise. This makes it for one entertaining thread for me since I have no dog in the race :)

It's actually probably not a Turbolift. It's Pike's 'Ready Room' or the briefing room we saw them conferring in. :)
(And yes, who knows why the later Bridge module used in TOS with Kirk didn't have one...a resurgence of 'minimalist design' ;)).

The STD Enterprise bridge is in the middle of a much larger structure than the original.

I like it, for the most part. Though I'd prefer a squared-off viewscreen and the Shenzhou station chairs. And they need to turn down the lights a bit, and maybe kill the glossy sheen. Looks like it just came out of the factory, instead of being a workhorse of the fleet.

The glossy shine really dents my appreciation . The floor looks silly (and slippery), and though I quite like the new helm design, the front red/Orange being so shiny makes it look like Power Rangers and not practical (pseudo-)military.

Enterprise has just undergone major repairs. Maybe the floor is brand new :) (too much blood from redshirts that was hard to clean so they replaced the whole floor)
