End of DS9 on to Voyager

It's a fascinating read, if a little flawed in places.

Agreed. (Thanks for posting the rest, by the way. I'd only previously seen the first two parts.)

It's one guy's perspective, so it has to be taken with a grain of salt, but it chimes with a lot of what I have surmised about the TNG-era from watching the shows.

He's right about DS9 being possibly too complex and too intensely self-involved, but he's also right that that's part of what makes it a great show and a lasting achievement that will hold up over time: it is "a real place, a truthful place."

A lot of what he says about Voyager strikes me as pretty accurate as well. Basically there was simply no creative energy there, and a great premise was wasted.

Moore was a disgruntles ex-employee when he said all that, and it shows.

Also, like MANY others, he refused to do his homework and get to the source of VOY's problems. Namely, the nameless UPN execs who tampered with the show from pre-production onwards.

Michael Piller, who actually produced the show, gave a much more intelligent and insightful view of how VOY failed to live up to its premise. Unfortunately that bit was gone from Memory-Alpha when I tried to look for it.

Then again, I personally think there were problems with VOY's very premise itself, even before UPN started messing with the show.

I watched DS9 first. However, I perfer Voyager. I recently rewatched DS9 and found myself rewatching Voyager instead.

Voyager is a very different show, there are great characters of course not everyone agrees with me everyone has there opinions ... whatever:shrug: It all depends.

I hope you enjoy it. It dosen't hurt to try :techman:

Not the hugest Voyager fan but it had some killer episodes. Living Witness maybe in my top 5 of all time.
