Early Review of Picard Season 3

I don't understand what value these youtubers add to anyone's experience with the show.
You guys aren't the target audience for these YouTube channels. However, in trying to sell the season to people that have given up on NuTrek, they are revealing some spoilers and behind the scenes information that may also be of interest to people here (and especially those lurking) that happen to be fans of say Discovery.

The show will reveal itself shortly. Those who supposedly hate "nuTrek" and their ilk will not be persuaded by clips like this. They'll watch it, hate it and keep those channels alive. It's been going on for so long it's a self-perpetuating cycle. The only way change will happen is to watch it and think for yourself.

Some have commented on twitter that they are going to hate it no matter what. I saw a comment that said they will hate all Trek that involves Kurtzman as producer. Some people have already made up their minds that Star Trek ended in 2005 to them.

They're out of their minds.

I think Rick Berman is a scumbag, but I can still like Berman Trek. They can do the same with Kurtzman Trek. They're not going to like whoever eventually replaces him either. If anything, they'll like the next person even less, assuming they're still alive. Some of them are getting pretty up there in age.

At the end of the day, it's not about Rick Berman or Alex Kurtzman. It's about who they have working under them: those are the people who make the real difference and are being overlooked.

I'd say the goal was for RMB to interest the Critical Drinker enough into giving PICARD another look, and he succeeded.

This is the specific argument made by the guys at the Popcast channel, and that Terry Matalas is so good you'll want him making more Star Trek.

During the early-2000s, I used to go by Jammer's Reviews to guage if Star Trek was getting better or worse. This was back when I agreed with him 90% of the time instead of 10% of the time. Probably an exaggeration about how much things have changed, but you get the idea. ;)

We won't know if the hype is real until that Diktor von Doomcock early review drops ...
I've been told he doesn't look at Trek anymore. But, let's say he did. The hype will be real. Why? Because he'll give it a 2 out of 10 instead of a 1 out of 10!

And how about you? Are you going to break out the 2 or stick with the 1? ;)

EDITED TO ADD: This is like saying, "We'll know the hype is real if Louisiana votes for the Democrat in a US Presidential Election!"

"The third season of Star Trek Picard, or at least these first six episodes is certainly an exception and a diamond in the rough. Whether you watch it or not, that fact will not change. I believe that Paramount knew they had something very special here with this third season, and that's the reason they gave these six screeners out to critics like myself to watch. I think they just knew that fans were going to love it, and I have to say it's hard not to love it. It's not perfect, what show is? But it is very much worth your time."

The last time this topic came up on this thread, it was locked. Maybe the Neutral Zone would be a better venue to further explore this?

I wasn't interested in talking about Doomcock, just teasing Tuvix. Don't worry about it. He and I don't agree about anything. But we're not going to go on for pages and pages and pages about it and it's not going to erupt into a Flame War or anything like that.

I don't post in TNZ. Don't really want to either.

Gotcha, and yes, now that I can finally see TNZ after hearing about it since 2006 I don't blame you.

If anyone posting or lurking here wants to find out more about this YouTuber and PICARD season 3, both Robert Meyer Burnett and the Popcast have videos on their channels going over it. As someone that's followed that space for years, I'd just say IMO he's a bad faith actor. There's no real there... there, whereas there is a lot to see potentially in the coming weeks from NuTrek critics that are supporting PICARD season 3.

"Doomcock" showed up as a suggested tweet so checked out its feed. That person seems to be having a meltdown that Robert and others are enjoying the new season. And yes, that is one of the people who say they will hate all new Trek no matter what and also insults people that like the new shows. He's one of the people I've seen over the years that wants the shows to fail so bad and encourages people not to watch. 1) I don't understand why they don't just move on with their lives at this point. Star Trek (2009) came out almost 14 years ago now..and they are still on twitter crying over the same stuff. That person isn't the only one. I just can't imagine screaming about a franchise I don't like on twitter for 14 years. It's insane. 2) I'm not convinced a lot of these people ever really liked Star Trek but just want to be upset or angry about everything and have nothing better to do at this point. 3) Some of his points make no sense. He complains the show isn't like TNG but then insults the writers for having "memberberry" callbacks to the older shows. Wouldn't making a show just like TNG be the ultimate memberberry?
