I may be in the wrong forum, I apologize, I am new to this forum and am somewhat unfamiliar with its setup. I want to know what you guys think are the best seasons of TNG. I just bought the second but because of the prices I have to buy them slowly and I want to get what is the best seasons. So what do you guys think are the best seasons of TNG?

I like the fifth season, but that's a very individual thing. Episodes you don't remember as favorites can be more interesting to watch in higher quality, with commentary, in marathons with other episodes, and so forth. Maybe look for a cheap price special on any particular season and grab that one

Well, general consensus seems to be on season 3, 4 and 5 as the best ones, at least that's been my experience. Still, it's really all up to the individual.

My advice would be, since you have the second now, get the third next. It's good (often considered as the first season when TNG started to get consistently great) and you would still follow a chronological order (that may or may not be important to you).

But if you're planning to get them all eventually, then shopping around for the cheapest offer, whichever season it is, sounds like the best plan.

Thanks for the advice, I was looking in stores and if they have them they are all around 50 so I will be searching amazon for a while. I was thinking I would go with the third as the next purchase, thanks for the great info.

I would also suggest posting in The Next Generation forum. It is made up of TNG fans, so you may get more detailed responses from fans of that series.

I'm one of the few that prefer Seasons One and Two to what came later. Universe seemed fresher at this point. Seemed more like the original Star Trek. So, I guess it depends on what you think of the first ST.

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum, I didn't do much exploring when I came to the site the first time I apologize for posting in the wrong area, however I have season 2 and so far it has been very good I have liked all the episodes so far. Thanks again, now its just a matter of finding the rest at a decent price if anyone knows where they are on the net for a good price send me a link or where you like to buy them from based on price as I am a student and don't have much money.

Definitely go for 3,4, and 5.

Definately seasons three through six, though two and seven have their highlights. Season one is almost unrecognisable in comparison to the rest of the series.

Season2, 3 and 4 are the only seasons that I consider to be really good. Season 1 is fun in a campy type of way as well. Season 5 and onwards the show starts to get stale and repetive because the characters don't really grow and change and the show at this point has developed a formula on how they do episodes to a point were it's really predictable and feels repetive as well. By the time season 7 rolls around you will be sick of the technobabble and the conference room scenes. PLus I suspect Pillar was spending more time working on Ds9 and he was the true star of TNG.

You can get the entire set online for about $250.00. That's what I paid.

Season 4 has only two stinkers. Season 3 is number two, and season 6 3rd for me.
