Dune 2018 (19,20,21...)

I already decided I'd hold off on the disc release, since there's almost certainly going to be a fancier one after Part II (or III, or wherever he finishes it off) comes out with all the movies put together.

You'll be waiting a long time for a fancy 3 pack, since he's also contracted to do at least 2 episodes of the TV show and has booked Rama to do after Part 2 before Messiah (if it happens). I'd say *at least* 8 years for a SE 3 pack collection.

I'm still waiting for my Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair:shrug:

The Digital Bits got an early copy to review if you're interested, just google "digital Bits dune".

I'm also disappointed in the special features - I believe they're all already online, so we're not even getting anything new that way. What's the point:shrug:
Actually, I think I will buy the 4K+HD set. It's £25 in the UK, which is reasonable. I can probably sell it on eBay if a superior version with better special features becomes available. We already know there likely won't be a director's cut as this has been confirmed by Villeneuve.

Technically this story ends with Part II, and if we get 3rd movie it will be an adaptation of the second book, Dune Messiah.

Same here. This looks more and more like a 'We just need to have something out there on store shelves' release, with no more effort put into it than was put into the film/featurettes already.

I'm still waiting for The Abyss in anamorphic widescreen.

A quite interesting (and long) interview with the editor of Dune. Enjoy.

Just got an ad on my phone, Dune is streaming on Crave (so likely on HBO Max and other equivalents internationally) in March

In the end, I bought the 2D+3D HD Blu-ray version from Amazon (a German release) as a couple of YouTube reviewers have detailed how the UHD 4K version isn't very good.

Digital versions have gone on sale for $10 CAD before the streaming release on Crave. I suspect US will have equivalent deals soon if not now already to cash in before the HBOMax release. I'm still not buying. I'll watch it on Crave.

YT never disappoints in weird entertainment. :rommie:

Okay, now I just want to give Elmo a hug. :wah:

(and that's a good question; why is she wearing a blanket on her face?)

After Villeneuve's Dune i can barely watch Lynch's version.

It is now on Netflix and i just watched a couple of scenes and the new Dune is so vastly superior in all aspects it's not even funny. Even if you disregard modern special effects vs. those available back then the new version is just so much better. I can't wait to see the conclusion in late 2023.

Dat Toto score still rocks.
It contains inspiration for fanfic, including of the Cheezburger kind (honestly, years ago someone made a full-length Cheezburger version of "The Trouble With Tribbles" and it's hilarious). Some people have been doing a similar thing for the Lynch movie.

As for this one? Captions are already writing themselves.
