DS9 on blu ray?

Are there any other examples of shows that were mastered on videotape in the 80s and 90s and were later remastered and released on blu-ray? I'm just curious.

I thought they partially remastered The X-Files. But that's about all I can think of from the dark days of video tape.

Oops, I can't believe I forgot the X-Files. I binge watched it all a few months ago.

Certain effects shots were obviously just upscaled instead of properly remastered, though.

Not (yet) on Blu-Ray, but Seinfeld (for syndication). And, on that note, on one episode of The Orb (TrekFM's DS9 PodCast), Host Chris Jones mentioned that stations in Japan won't even syndicate DS9, because it has no HD remasters (he lives in Japan).

Was it actually mastered on videotape? The quality of Seinfeld on DVD (and original broadcast) is/was much better than the average show with video tape masters.

Yes, it was originally mastered on videotape, in 1.33:1. The new HD masters are in widescreen.

I'm aware of the 1.33:1, I watched the show as it originally aired and own the complete series on DVD (which is also 1.33:1) which is why I asked. The DVD's from 2004 don't look like they came from videotape masters. :techman:

I take it you are in R1, because in R2 it was released in WS on DVD.

Anyone know why BBC America isn't upgrading any more TNG to HD? They've been airing remastered S1 and S2 for the past couple of years but that's been it.

Ratings uptick probably didn't justify the added expense. All I can figure.
