Annoyance: extended episodes that come after the normal cut on Blu-ray

I warn you: I'm diving into the top of first world problems here. But it annoys me.

I have two examples. TNG "Measure of a Man" and Battlestar "Pegasus".

They show the normal episode, you watch it, THEN they say "We have an extended version" on Blu-ray.

If I'd have known that, I'd have watched the extended one. But I just watched the normal one, and I'm not going to watch it again straight away.

I then think next time I do a re-run I'll watch the extended cut.

Years pass, and well, after doing the exact same thing with both of these in recent months... I'm now caught in this endless loop of never watching them.

Simply offer the choice up front, surely?

In the case of BSG's Pegasus, that was a carry over from the show's DVD release. When Season 2 of BSG was originally released on DVD, the two halves of the season were released separately. The normal broadcast cut of Pegasus was included with the set of the first half of the season, the extended cut on the second half's set. Then when they did the Blu-rays, someone not paying attention mistakenly assumed they were two separate episodes and included them in that manner.

Nah, it's just the way Universal do it in general. A Disquiet Follows My Soul, Islanded in a Stream of Stars and Daybreak all have the extended versions after the regular as well. Same thing on Parks and Rec too, you can't choose Play All because if you do you're in for extended eps playing right after their regular counterparts.

YES! I just did a rewatch of BSG, and that happens more than once. Drove me crazy. It never occurred to me to check the disk contents ahead of time - that's the first time I encountered such a thing. Grr.
