I'm not sure how many people are going to binge watch seven hundred episodes?

Any re-mastering of DSN and/or VOY for HD would mean the bean counters might have to expect that any ROI investment might take say 10 years. Unfortunatly bean counters don't always take the long view. Or are we saying that say a re-mastering of DSN would never make a profit even if takes 10/15/20 years?

" Might be pie in the sky along with everything else, but I personally wouldn't discount it.
And the question becomes, is there enough demand to justify the expense to bring those other 364 episodes into HD?
If CBS are happy for DS9 and Voyager to be lost...
More than enough copies exist that it won't be lost. They keep the original film elements in salt mines and they can last for centuries.
I was really referring to lost as being unviewable on the screen technology of the day in any kind of watchable quality. Keeping the film elements is all find and dandy, but we can't watch those. And if CBS make the decision not to do anything with them, some numpty in a suit is bound to eventually make the decision to throw them out. From the persepective of CBS, there'll be no point in keeping them.
And film stock doesn't last for centuries. It will discolour badly well before 100 years.
I wouldn't mind seeing DS9 and Voyager brought to HD, but some of these "theories" on why CBS has to do it are just mind numbing.
Who is saying CBS must do anything? I don't think CBS has to do anything. I just don't think it's totally implausible that they'll consider some sort of improved version for their streaming channel relaunch/promotion.
