DS9 on blu ray?

How much worse are the PAL DVDs compared to the much more expensive NTSC DVDs? I'd rather import the R1 versions, but they're just so expensive, nearly €150 more than the PAL versions.

I'm thinking of just going to less common methods (*wink* *wink*) to watch the NTSC versions, but if there's not much of a difference I might shell out the money for the UK versions.

Frame rate is the only thing different with PAL and NTSC, even then not always. And I don't buy enough Region 1/A stuff to notice how much it affects it.

Heh. How far we've come. In the old days, I don't think you could even properly watch PAL material on NTSC equipment, and vice versa.

Just ordered the DVDs.

Was excited to watch the series over the two-week long Easter break, but unlucky for me, the set won't be arriving until the very last days

Oh well, more things to worry about than that.

The R2 DVDs are definitely in PAL with the 4% speedup, and they are also the cut versions. To The Death has about two seconds of footage and a sound effect removed, and Sons and Daughters has about 30 seconds cut out.

^ I obviously went to the wrong school!

But enjoy your DVDs... hopefully they arrive a little earlier than expected! :D

Good grief, people are still buying DVDs?!?!? :guffaw:
Yes. What's the problem? The artistic staff of TV shows composed their shots to look good on broadcast TV with static and the edges of the frame likely to be missing and maybe 400 lines on the picture. DVDs are like heaven in comparison. And let's not even talk about the pathetic excuse for broadband that's available in many US cities.

Recently purchased DS9, Voyager, B5, SG1, SG Universe and Angel DVD box sets.

And a bunch of Bluray box sets. I'd have had the above on Bluray too, but they look extremely unlikely to get a HD release. It's DVD or nothing...

If DVD is the best option, then what choice do you have?

I'm into some obscure, offbeat vintage films that may have gotten a DVD release at some point, but probably won't ever be released on bluray, and aren't available on streaming services. So I buy the DVD.
