I could take the time to point out the flaws with almost everything you wrote but the last two words that you did write are spot on!
Anyway, peace. We'll have to agree to disagree.

I would argue that if CBS wants to continue making money they need to do a remastering because Standard Definition Television is a hindrance to making more money no matter the format it is presented on.
See, *this* I do find a more compelling argument for redoing them. But at the end of the day it probably comes down to whether Paramount would see the overall revenue as being worth the investment. If they need to sink more money into it than they're likely to get out of it, chances are they'll say "thanks but no thanks".
I'd love to be proven wrong.![]()
This DS9 could live on for many, many years.

No, all of the Star Trek TV shows were shot on 35 mm film (except for the last series of Enterprise, which was shot on HD video). The problem with Voyager and DS9 is the CGI usage. We don't know what proportion of the original CGI digital elements (a) still exist, and (b) are usable for HD. If a significant proportion needs to be remade from scratch, that would be very expensive. Voyager uses CGI heavily right from the start and DS9 has Odo...Is it true that TOS and TNG needed more work because they were not originally shot in HD, and so had to, essentially, go through the whole post-production process again, but that DS9 should be relatively easier to remaster because it was shot in HD?

We should do that, then you need to go figure out how to use quotes...![]()

^ This.DS9 and VOY have got their fanbase, but I am not convinced they have the 'cultural niche' of TOS and TNG among the casual buyers (which of course encompasses HD television broadcasts). For a good portion of the audience they remain a case of ever diminishing returns. The only reason ENT made it to Blu Ray was because it was already 99% there, they literally had to do almost nothing to it. DS9 and VOY would be bigger investments, perhaps with lesser reward in the long term.
If CBS have got numbers that tell them different then, sure, they'll go ahead. I really hope they do, but I'm not hopeful they will.
Sure DSN/VOY might have a smaller return than TNG, but what will return will they have in the future if they remain SD. As fewer and fewer channels want SD content?

LOL. That's blatantly untrue and doubly ironic coming from you since you purposely mangled a quote from me to begin with and I was copying your bad behavior.
It's sad to see the people on this thread pile on as to how unwatchable, unpopular and unwanted this show was past, present and future. Perhaps the MODS should close this thread..........but that is precisely what the naysayers here really wish to accomplish anyway.
Anytime someone has an argument as to why they should preserve DS9 the usual suspects pile on how that is unreasonable (e.g., streaming, CGI etc.). Good Job guys![]()

I think you've hit the nail on the head without actually realizing it. No one here in the States has wanted to broadcast Deep Space Nine or Voyager for a very long time. Which is by far your biggest market for these shows. Heck, even TNG only airs on BBC America (a digital tier cable channel that you have to pay a premium for). TOS only airs on MeTV, a nostalgia driven network.
There hasn't been a big market for Star Trek for a very long time. What about upgrading it to HD is going to change that?
Don't you mean there hasn't been a big market in the US?
The same might not hold true for other countries, where CBS can sell TV/streaming rights.
For example in the UK, at least one ST show, if not two or three, is on everyday with multiple networks airing them. Treu DSN isn't currently re-running in the UK but it did complete a re-run last year and several episode aired over Christmas on Sy-fy (UK).
