DS9 Forum Welcome Thread: Hello fellow Niners!

DS9 is my all-time favourite Trek, so it's likely I'll be most active here of all the Trek sections. I picked my middle name, Benjamin, for Ben Sisko. :)

Hi i think it's great that others appreciate DS9
I must admit to start with that i didn't find DS9 as appeakling as the others to begin with, set on a space station rather than traveling out into deep space, however it is now my favourite Trek series, the story and sub plots and the material in general as well as the characters are brilliant

Just got drawn into trying DS9 again thanks to Picard. What are some good eps to watch? I only have a one month sub to CBS All Access, so I can't watch all of it.

Start with season 4 when Worf joins the cast...... But you'd miss out some good episode from season 1-3, like Duet.

One month and the current lockdown would be enough for binge-watching it :D

Thanks! Been catching up with some of the earlier stuff too. Just finished up with pt 1 and 2 of Past Tense. It was very good and sadly very relevant today.

I wish! But I try to watch an ep or so a day.

Hello, everybody.

Yep, you'll surely find some trek enthusiasts here in Brazil. I am 58YO and I had the chance to feel in love with SCIFI since I was a teen, original Star Trek series from the 60's being my first experience with sci-fi series (Portuguese dubbed, it started in Brazil after the end of the '60s if I am not wrong). It was but recently that I had the chance to watch all episodes from Star Trek - original and next-generation -, Voyager, Enterprise, and Deep Space Nine (thanks, Netflix!). I must confess I love them all their own way, no chances I would dare to compare ones with the others. If I did so, I'd surely find preferences in their differences, and that is simply not fair. I am watching the 2018's documentary "What We Left Behind - Looking Back at Deep Space Nine" right at this moment and I decided to find a forum in order to manifest myself in favor of those who appreciate Deep Space Nine as it is before I get to the end of it. I am one of them, definitely. I did not begin to watch it looking for similarities with the other series, and I found myself pleased with the breath of fresh air it brought to me. Chances are that I felt that way because I did not create expectations myself. Deep Space Nine is a remarkable series of its own. I applause the crew, writers, directors and actors, all the same, all together. Having changellings, ferengis, bajorians, cardasians along with humans having their roles separately and as heterogeneous groups was remarkably good. Outstanding! Thank you all!

Hi, I'm Herbert. Long time Star Trek fan, first time DS9 fan.

For some odd reason I didn't watch DS9 when it first came out. I think I was feeling a little Trek burnout at the time. I also didn't like the idea of a Trek show that didn't take place on a ship. Yes, I was one of those  However, I am watching it now and enjoying it quite a bit.

Hey everyone. Last time I posted in this thread I was at season 3, but that was a long time ago. So now I have finished all of DS9. It's my favorite series in Star Trek, with TNG closely behind. My favorite episode is The Visitor, and I know it might not be the most popular, but my favorite season is the 7th and last one. The last episodes were amazing. This forum is pretty awesome, and I'm excited to be here!

Hi!

I watched DS9 for the first time only this year (along with TNG, VOY, ENT, TAS, DIS and PIC) and I have to say I found DS9 to be my clear favourite. It took me a while to get to like the majority of the principals on the other shows but I liked everyone on DS9 right from the off (although I have to admit that I'm still not sure about Avery Brooks' performance; sometimes it feels, ike the strongest performance in all of Star Trek, other times it's just cringeworthy. I love Ben Sisko as a character though, regardless).

Anyway, I'm pleased to be here and I hope to be chatting with you all soon (going to be doing a spot of lurking for awhile, get the lay of the land).

I love DS9 too. My wife thinks that Avery Brooks was over the top; in fact, she thinks that most of DS9 is too over acted. She’s not having that problem with Enterprise or Discovery. Welcome!
