Dorvan V

Lynx

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I just re-watched the episode "Journey's End" and started to wonder about the fate of the inhabitants of planet Dorvan V who decided to stay on the planet, now inside the Cardassian boundaries. Has there ever been any mentioning in any DS9 episode or TNG or DS9 book about the fate of those inhabitants?

Obviously this tribe wasn't the same one as Chakotay belonged too since they were located on another planet.

I'm pretty sure that Chakotay was originally intended to be from that tribe when Voyager was concieved, hence his involvement in the Maquis... but I guess they dropped the idea for some reason.

I have no idea about whether or not they've been mentioned elsewhere.

To avoid further remuneration to the original writer? Similar to the Nick Locarno/Tom Paris scenario when Voyager debuted.

^Why? They wouldn't mention Dorvan V every single episode of Voyager. Indiana wasn't mentioned in every episode...

Well, I was just curious.

Obviously one more of those loose threads in the Star Trek saga. Due to the nature of the Cardassians, they were probably wiped out but I do hope that they could survive in some way or another.

I also get the feeling that this tribe was supposed to be Chakotay's tribe.

^No. I was responding to Lokai of Cheron's comment about rights to use of a character... It wouldn't be a budget issue if Chakotay mentioned growing up on Dorvan V only once during the entire run if it would even be an issue

It was just a thought/question, Finn - which is why I ended it with a question mark. You've made a good case to its inaccuracy. I do remember reading or hearing reasoning along those lines reference Locarno/Paris on VOY.
