As much as I love animals the mental image I'd get when told about the dog and sprinkler would have made me laugh too. It's a pretty ridiculous way to die.
I'd feel like crap about laughing though.

Jimmy Doohan has passed away. But we all know that he too had issues with Shatner. He wouldn't speak to Shatner outside of work....and yet why did Jimmy Doohan get a pass from Takei's wrath.

Also, Deforest Kelley would not speak to Shatner outside of work some time during season 2 for about a year because Shatner made fun of Deforest's dog dieing or Shatner did not take it (the dog's death) as a serious issue and Deforest was offended.

From what I have read of this incident, De's little dog ran head first into a sprinkler head and died.

When De relayed this sad incident to Bill Shatner, Bill cracked up about it, and this is why De did not speak to Bill for some time.

Thank you, that is it. And, yes I just laughed out loud when I read your post above. It is NOT funny, but it sounds funny.

I think that Shatner and Doohan made up just before his death. I have read where on Shatner's new show: Shatner's Raw Nerve, he has invited Takei to come on there one time and talk things over. I sure do hope they bury the hatchett.
I remember reading something in a magazine back in 89 or so where Nimoy didn't invite Shatner to HIS wedding and Shatner went ballistic on him. They didn't speak for over two years after that.
Just a little FYI: I saw Shatner on Live with Regis and Kelly yesterday(Monday, Dec. 8) and he looks pretty good..a little tired looking though. He was talking about his Thanksgiving Turkey he made..he smoked the thing! It was rather tasty he said.
Anyway, I believe that both of these guys are at fault and both need to stop acting so childish and move on with their lives. And why would Takei hold a grudge over someone whom he has not worked with in over 17+ years?! It's absolutely insane!

^ ^ I saw Shatner on the "Today" show yesterday (Monday). He was saying that the reviews of his talk show actually turned out very positive. I got two of them in the TiVo last night, and I'm looking forward to checking them out.
