Donny's Refit Enterprise Interiors (Version 2.0)

Anyway, would you guys be interested in seeing some non-Trek art once I get something worth showing? I should obviously stay away from posting it on a Trek-centric board but I appreciate the input of all of you so I'd like you guys and girls along on this voyage if you want. (Speaking of, what's the rules regarding posting non-Trek work in the Fan Art forum, @Michael?)
I don't see any problem with you posting non-Trek work, @Donny. (And as you can see above, neither do the others. ;))

Sure, the focus of the Fan Art forum should be on fan art, as in art created by fans of a fandom for that fandom. But a non-Trek thread from time to time certainly doesn't do any harm. :techman:

I have this funny feeling that Maurice knows exactly what it is -- although thanks for putting that link up, BK613! I had to dig it up when I was wondering what happened to it.

Oh, I know he knows. Polaris is one of my favorite non-Trek designs and I consider it a privilege to have watched @Vektor refine the design over the years.

Update:
My brain is constantly switching gears on what I want to work on in the interim while I recharge my "Refit batteries". Concepting my own sci-fi stuff last weekend proved frustrating, time-consuming, and not as fruitful as I'd hoped, and I realized it would be yet another major time-sink that I just don't have the mental bandwidth for right now while I have other irons in the fire.

Anywho, I've got a small-ish, low-stress Trek project in mind that I did some preliminary planning and work on yesterday which I think may hold my interest until I see it through ;) No promises but the seeds of motivation are there.

Hint: followers of a thread in the Fan Art forums by @Firebird will be pleased.

I've honestly never liked Lazarus' travel pod. It looks like something out of a 50's science fiction movie, more suited to Lost in Space than TOS.

Yeah, it's a terrible fit for Star Trek, but I enjoy the model anyway! I especially love the little compartment the dilithium crystals fit into.

I agree. It's a fun design that seems at once very advanced technologically and also quite retro. Since Lazarus lied so much, it's hard to know what's true about it. If it's a ship capable of interplanetary or even interstellar flight, the engines and life support system are marvelously miniaturized. If it's just a mobile transdimensional gateway, it seems curiously dependent on an exit gateway in the target universe. In either case, there didn't seem to be much in the way of control interfaces.

Regardless, it's very visually interesting, and I look forward to seeing what you do with it, Donnie!

Oh no no no. I'm not really modeling the Lazarus pod. I was just playing along with @137th Gebirg's joke.

What I'm really gearing up for is doing The Cage and WNMHGB variants of my TOS bridge, maybe some pilot variants of the other sets as well. Some low-stress stuff mainly consisting of making modifications of existing pieces I've already crafted while I recharge. The amount of modeling I've had to do at work on STO and the Refit at home lately is leaving me a little ragged, so I could really use something that's more low-key.

Oops, my bad. Should have taken the smiling faces at more than face value. Ah well, chalk it up to my confidence that you can produce some mind-blowing art, even on offbeat subjects! :bolian: Even when you're "taking it easy", I enjoy seeing what your creativity comes up with.
