What I had in mind was that the decks would slide down along a track between the wall-mounted cargo units and outer hull. Imagine a roll-top desk,… the segmented deck flexible enough to do that. Naturally, the "sleeve" this deck slides down into would have to be fairly perpendicular, in it’s curve, and not coincide with the shape of the outer hull. In other words, it would look more like a quarter-cylinder, not a funnel.
And, remember, the deck isn’t supposed to slide ALL the way in, because 5 or 6 feet is needed for the walkway-around, past all the Cargo units & lifeboat access (also denied acknowledgement). That is why that visible section of that deck is seen to be solid.
