Oh! Well, look at that. I did skim to see if anyone had mentioned it, but obviously missed yours. It's an interesting idea to disseminate important information -- blasting announcements over those displays, it isn't likely to be missed, but it takes up significant screen acreage and appears to be static. Were content producers for those displays forewarned that almost a quarter of the screen would be covered by that box?
I hate to project jump again, but I did warn you guys last year that it would probably happen more frequently, at the behest of my shifting motivations Basically, I hit a wall with the TUC Bridge again, as motivation to finish the bridge displays came to a halt. After finishing the Assault phaser, I found myself kind of drifting aimlessly for a bit and decided to recharge. Which led me to wanting to switch back to re-mastering my Refit-era project again, this time with Engineering. My plan is to give mostly everything a complete visual upgrade from my previous renders as I did with the bridges, corridors. and transporter room earlier this year. I also want to take the opportunity to render both the TMP and TWOK appearances of the engine room this time as well, and perhaps explore what "Impulse Engineering" looks like, as well as fleshing out possible Miranda and/or Oberth-class engine rooms. Anyway, I've just got the structural aspects of the vertical chamber done so far. Here's a very detail-free bird's eye view from N Deck: And a view from O Deck:
Ohh, this is gonna be good! Also, take it from a professional project jumper, it's the healthy thing to do!
I guess that would make it the I.S.S. Enterprise. Has we all know, the Empire can't abide safety rails.
I really admire your lighting technique. That last one especially looks like you slipped onto the set in 1978 to sneak a photo while it was under construction.
I eventually want to dedicate a solid block of time to making Phase II variants of the Refit sets, but I'll wait until that particular motivations strikes.
It was already old when GEN used it. See Wimpy in vintage Popeye cartoons -- "I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."
Not long after Generations I noticed that all the latest video and music releases ALWAYS came out every Tuesday. Video games too. Financial transactions from the weekend don’t fully post and clear until Tuesday. There definitely seems to be some kind of pattern that was probably always there in so many different industries, but I never actually noticed them until Gen made a more noticeable joke of it. Kind of frustrating, really. WHY TUESDAY??? It’s clearly a conspiracy.
I should note, I was looking at the Phase II camera tests of the engine room today, and realized for the first time that safety rails were not present in those few test shots. I imagine they just hadn’t been constructed or installed onto the set yet, as the Mike Minor concept does indeed have the same style rails present that we eventually see in TMP, but it’s interesting to note nonetheless (I don’t have digital images of those test shots, if I find them I’ll post them here)
There's a few screenshots in TrekCore's gallery of the Phase II documentary from the TMP DE DVD. http://movies.trekcore.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=265&page=4
