^ I agree with Starkers other than Jenny, 3 (out of 4) regenerations so far have been in the TARDIS.

Actually, what I really find odd about the regeneration scenes is that every Time Lord in the New Series seems to insist on regenerating standing up. In this episode we see the Tenth Doctor insistent on hauling himself up off the floor to a standing position for this purpose. Not only that, but the regeneration position of choice seems to be with a legs-wide-apart and arms-out stance (even before the actual regeneration happens)...when the Master regenerates in Utopia, we see him almost deliberately arrange his body in this fashion.

This seems to differ from the old series, where most of the time, the Doctor regenerates lying down.

that is a good point actually, I do actually understand why Jack took him back into the TARDIS, but why do they regenerate standing up now, hell when the Master refused to regenerate he wasnt standing up.

and the regeneration of the Master & this latest one are VERY similar.

Well I dont think the 4th Doctor could stand up, he probably broke every bone in his body.

But the old regenerations used to be a lot more gentler, and safer for someone else to be close by when it happened.

im not sure if i like that the regenerations now have a constant FX, it was cool the first two times, now its just predictable

I thought Davros didn't need to be in the time war since we already had the Dalek Emperor. He could have just been in hiding. I'm not interested in another alternate universe villian after the Cybermen. I was almost getting worried for a moment because Davros looked like a Cyberman in the shadows.

As for the christmas special, what's to say this doesn't take places sometime before the events of the season 4 finale?

well Donna isnt in it for starters and whilst well informed nerds would get that, the general public wouldn't get it.

that said I do feel like finding a picture of the guy romoured to be an alt Doctor from that episode, and seeing if its him the Doc regernates into next episode

this guy here

This whole epic one-up-man-ship of his own work just didn't work for me. Forget the Master, I'm going to bring back Davros! And the Doctor will regenerate! And Torchwood! And Donna! And Rose! And huge guns! And Martha! And Wilf and Donna's mum! And Harriet Jones! And Martha's mum! And there will be 1000's of Dalek ships shooting everything up. And the Shadow Proclamation! And the Judoon! And the Earth's been transported away!

No wonder RTD's giving up the mantle he's maxed out his Who credit limit. He'll never be able to go back to the well with this season-ender formula as there's nowhere left to go.

It was all too kitchen sink to me I'm afraid. This just seemed like by-the-numbers RTD finale to me cranked to 11 and was like watching a frantic next episode trailer. I never actually felt engaged by the material being presented. But none of that matters because he presented a big "Oh Shit!" moment to keep everyone chattering about and screaming "Fantastic! Best Ever! 5! 5! If you don't like that than you need to stop watching." about.

I will give him this though, it was admittedly one hell of an "Oh Shit!" moment and whether it actually proves legit or not it's amazing that it appears to have been kept quiet.

On another note, the biggest shock for me is that England still has milkmen.

Sorry Ninth Doctor but Rose apparently really digs this incarnation.

Do I even need to say it?

Excellent, actually, beyond Excellent

What a setup

It was non stop from the start, things were moving so fast

Felt like a classic Doctor Who episode in so many ways

I liked learning a bit more about the Time War, so apparently it was "Time Locked" but one of the Daleks managed to emergency time shift back and rescue Davros! Amazing, I have to know how that Dalek managed that

I think we are going to be dissapointed about the regineration though, typically he really would reginerate, but I doubt it will be a normal one this time, they are tricking us, I think that hand might grow a clone of the Doctor, errrr, if it does I can't say I like that idea, I would hate watching a clone in future episodes, he would never be real to me, would never be a real Timelord to me

Maybe the clone stays with Rose on alt world?

Nah that wouldn't really mesh with these photos from bad wolf bay

I do wonder if it's an FX reason, maybe they're just resusing the same effect. It does look a bit repetetive now, the whole Christ pose etc. I can see the point in making the process more consistant but there was something charming about all the other regenerations being so different, almost as if each regen is different in the same way each Doctor is different.

I was just refering to Nu Who regens obviously :)

I bet Davros was seconded to the Dalek forces in the same way as The Master was brought back to life by the Timelords, wartime neccesity.

Someone up topic asked about calling the phone number so I decided to give it a try there but instead of getting through to maybe a recording of Tennant or something Who related the number is, as I sorta assumed, a dead number, doesn't go anywhere.

The episode itself, then it was fanbloddytastic. Can't wait till next weeks to see what happens. I'm also trying to figure out how the people of Earth can forget this as well as everything else that's happened in the past 4 years. I mean I still don't know how the events in Cardiff, you know when John blew up half the city, went by unnoticed by the rest of Britain in Torchwood, did that get reset or did continue from that point?

^I suppose if the number had had a recorded message on it then loads of kids would have run up phone bills calling it! The last thing any TV channel needs now is more telepohone controversy!

Well, except that at one point Davros WAS the Dalek Emperor. And since the Doctor said he was lost during the first year of the Time War, I can only assume the Emperor we saw in the first season was his successor. By the time Davros managed to recover/make his way back to the correct timezone, the war was already lost, and the Emperor in hiding. So Davros simply set up a lab and started up a new breeding program.

they said in the confidential for Utopia that tehy're using POTW as a standard for regenerations now so that they make sure people (most particularly the kiddie-winks) get that this is a regeneration.

well, we've not seen past that point yet in TW.

but, how does anyone miss the Moon falling, the Sun going out and that sodding big asteroid in SJA?

A year ago on scrubs the phone number "CallTurk" went straight through to the set and the cast'n'crew took turns answering it. I checked out a couple websites Scrubs talked about like rate you doc .com and that was real too...

Did anyone ever try to get through to the UNIT website and type buffalo into it to see how far into the words atomic arsenal they could get?

Colin Baker couldn't fit into David Tenants wardrobe.

They make a point of saying how thin Davy is all the time.

If the "new" Doctor is regular sized ( the Master looked like he was playing dress up in dads clothes post Jacobi.), he could garotte himself in twelve places then have to instantly re-regenerate.

Come to think of it, how did Colin fit into Davison's wardrobe?

On a costume note, i noticed that Davros buttons up his jacket on the left hand side now.;)

Having given it some thought, I think I know one key scene that will have big repercussions in the finale, but it's a quiet scene that no one's mentioned.

Donna, sitting on the stairs, hearing a heartbeat. The attendant approaches with tea, then says "There is something on your back (or possibly "There was something on your back.). And I'm sorry for your loss. The loss to come".

Mark my words, it'll be pivotal.

What I found to be more weired is when the attendant said: "You are something new". I wonder what she meant.

Does anyone think that Davros can dress himself?

Not what a Dalek Plunger is designed for either.

Ogrons or Robomen or slaves?

I'm reminded about what JMS said about butting from left to right vs right to left.

Is Davros a Girl Now?
