Hasn't she used up all her rescue attempts by now? I think they should get rid of her and find a way of introducing a more interesting character.

Yes. Her only function is to serve as the damsel in distress. It's beyond annoying. Time to get rid of her (I'd settle if they sent her home...it would eliminate having to pretend she had meaning after she died).

From about half way through the pilot I was hoping her character would be killed. He might not look as good as Chloe but I'd have preferred if Chris McDonald wasn't the one out of those two who got offed.

No. I'd prefer that they give her something meaningful to do... besides Scott.

I think they could do with killing off most of the main cast (Chloe included). The cliffhanger is a good opportunity to kill off most of the military characters plus Wray. I'm fine with Rush, Eli, Scott, Johansen, and James living a little longer.

I would prefer they develop the character instead of killing her.

For that matter, they could try developing all the cast. Flesh the characters out. Everyone so far is just one note.

^I've seen nothing I find irredeemable about any of them. They don't need to die, they need characterization. So far the only very strongly and consistently characterized and backstory-ized characters are Eli, Rush, and Young. They tried with Greer and Scott but they're still not very deep characters.

I think its a pretty good ensemble cast with the exception of Chloe. A boring character!!

Yes not only is she too annoying to live but she's way too much of a cliché.

Kill her! And Wray too!

Either that...or find some female writers who can write female characters better than the current writers who don't seem to have a clue.

Chloe needs to be trained to do something useful and SHE needs to save SOMEONE else. Damsel in distress must be getting boring for her too.

Wray needs to be given a role that shows her actually working successfully for the good of the military as well as the civilians. I certainly don't think she should always be portrayed as being at loggerheads with the military, nor should she be shown to be wrong all the time. Give her a break too.

Didn't they try that by getting rid of Ford in SGA? It sounds like the same problems over and over again.

Just because a character is useless is not a good reason to get rid of them, perhaps instead, they should just make them interesting and useful! I seriously think the writers lack the ability to do this though, as we've seen in the past.

On the other hand, sometimes it is ok to have a character that doesn't contribute much, but is just there, to bounce other stories off of for other characters. In a way, Chloe was always going to be useless, she was just there because of her dad and got swept up into this whole thing. They have tried in one episode to make her more interesting by introducing an interest in archeology, in that ep with the giant spiders. I hope they expand upon this more, she could be our archeology girl, which would be fine.

I'd be fine with the show itself just keeling over and dying.

The people responsible for this show have no idea how to do a slow, deep, thought-provoking series. Killing off characters, especially for the purpose of introducing new ones, won't change the fundamental problem with the show. I'm sure most of the actors aren't all that bad -- its the writing, direction, and style of the show that needs to die and be replaced. If I had to work in those conditions, I doubt I'd be an interesting, let alone entertaining, person either.

Just look at Robert Carlyle. He's not a slouch of an actor, and despite doing the best he can given the shit he has to work with and the only character with any interesting traits and background to speak of, even Rush comes across as mindnumbingly dull.

The thing about Ford, and the other characters who got killed off/left is that in general we knew ahead of time that it was coming.

There is no sign that I have seen of any such cast shake ups coming for SGU.

Which means either everyone is coming back for season two(likely), or spoiler security in the Gate-verse has been ramped up considerably(unlikely).

Which is unfortunate, because SGU is the Stargate show that could most benefit from some cast members getting replaced, as well as having character death/loss fitting in tonally and plotwise with the show.
