I'm way to claustrophobic to do it.
So am I.
I'm way to claustrophobic to do it.
Hey Squigs - do you think you'll have the chance to take a ride in the Vomit Comet? My brother-in-law who works at the NBL in Houston got a ride. Yes, I'm jealous.Personally, I think I will.
I believe that in the next 25 years or so, the costs of going into orbit at least will come down a great deal.
People have been thinking this since 1960.
Think again.
Too bad that more people aren't more optimistic.
You know what we really need is a war that underscores the need for a large scale manned presence in space.
Something with the Chinese or Russians shooting up our satellite systems for example.
World War I was a major spur to aviation development.
And here's the other shoe, dropping. This whole thread was started just so you could get to this post, wasn't it?Too bad that more people aren't more optimistic.

Jesus Christ. I disagreed with a guy. Are we not allowed to do that? Space travel is not progressing at the rate to allow Joe Six-Pack to plunk down a couple of hundred dollars to fly into orbit in a couple of decades. As it stands now, there might not be enough money to send astronauts into LEO.

Not at all.
The thread just got me to thinking about air travel and how it took off (no pun intended) after World War I.
I can barely pay my rent, and I'll be dead within twenty years ... so barring a huge lotto win fairly soon, I don't stand a chance in hell of getting into space.
