When videos of the Skyfall opening credits showed up on YouTube there was a person I know who openly admitted they wouldn't go online and watch any of them because it was tantamount to "stealing" part of the ticket price to see the film. "It's not right. People paid to see those credits."

I kid you not....this same person complained about Lars Ulrich and Metallica making much too big a deal of things when the Napster affair occurred a number of years back. If I recall correctly from the exact same mouth: "It's just some songs, and free downloads will just help drive additional business to their live concerts and sell some records."

One imagines any savvy marketing person at Paramount would know those 9mins would end up online. If builds good word-of-mouth, which I think it will, mission accomplished.

I really think Spock does not survive the volcano unscathed, and needs to be saved by Harrison in some way.

This looks like an opening teaser scene of the film. In my opinion they won't meet Harrison until a bit later, and our heroes will get Spock out of trouble themselves (by doing something heroic).

I wonder how much the aliens and volcano planet will have to do with any of the plot? Probably very little.

They might serve a similar purpose to the opening sequence in some of the older Bond films. The alien world with the volcano and white-faced natives sets up what the Enterprise and our heroes are doing when the John Harrison crisis strikes Earth and Starfleet. Then they come rushing home to deal with whatever's happening.

It might just be a high-adrenaline way to kick off the film and get people going "that was badass, I wonder what's next?" That will keep more people in their seats and away from the concession stands and restrooms.

I wonder how much the sick little girl will have to do with things. Didn't Noel Clarke say he was concerned his scenes would be cut? Is Cumberbaddie using her Dad to get secruity codes, or is there more to it?

If the opener anything to go by, it may be he's only in that scene. And then, I assume from poster and synopsis, London gets detonated.

I think the little girl will be a platform to show Harrison's humanity and duplicity all in one delicious bundle, as an opening for the character. Won't continue as a plot.

I don't think the sick little girl is more than a really cute plot device so Cumberbatch can introduce his character to the audience. She'll serve her purpose and then....boom. London will "detonate" and the carnage and real action of the film get rolling.

Oddly for a couple of moments I thought that there was something "alive" in the volcano. Other than Spock I mean.

I'm not sure if we heard why not, but I'm sure there is a reason (probably the same reason for needing a shuttle to get him there).
