Discovery's Captain's chair

It strikes me as similar to Kelvin-verse chair in general design.

Looks like it could be anything from ENT to TNG but obviously not TOS. I think it is odd that people are jumping to conclusions based on the apparent wood base of the chair.

Nowhere in that Tweet does that say that that's the chair.

After reading criticism on the intarwebs, that's the new design they've given the ship. And frankly, I like it better.

Maybe the captain is an alien with a thin torso and arms as thick as tree trunks.

Thinking that it'll be set before the Narada comes through, that way, it is still in the Prime Universe. For now.

Or the captain is human and just very fat...

White captain
Bald Captain
Black Captain
Female Captain
Chubby Captain

I like the chair design, but what really works for me is the colour! I hope they actually keep it that way, rather than going for the usual gunmetal grey (or rust if they're Klingons).

This image for the STD Infographic has a concept for the chair. I like the colour and the buttons, but what about some padding?

P.S. Is there any change of getting these STD threads transferred over to the STD forum?

I'm hoping the chair is a sign of an exciting new direction for Star Trek. The USS Discovery and all her controls will be made of wood. I await our first look at her wooden warp core.
