As highlighted by everything about STD, Kurtzman is an utter hack who has no idea about Star Trek. He's clearly never watched TOS. Does he not know who Harry Mudd is?

As for a second season, if there is one, from everything I've been hearing for months from multiple sources, it won't be funded by Netflix, and Moonves isn't going to be putting his hand in his pocket, especially if the rumoured court case ends in Netflix getting its $150m back.

And STD has supposedly doubled CBS AA's subscription figures. As others have highlighted, that's not difficult if you started with $1 and someone gave you another $1, although it amazes me that anyone would pay to watch the show. If CBS wants the public to believe this sort of thing, then it needs to provide some hard data, which of course isn't going to happen.

Of course he did. We already have Sarek as a semi-regular this season and he's on the show specifically because of his connection to TOS. It was obvious what Kurtzman meant. Certain people just jump at the throat every time someone from Discovery shows their face.

Let me guess... this rumored court case is happening in some secret underground off-the-books court that the entertainment press isn’t privy to?

In reality, initial court filings are public record. And if this were happening, it would be all over the front page of Variety or the Hollywood Reporter. Remember the Axanar suit? Those initial filings were everywhere.
