Discovery Klingons and the Novelverse

Or people could just go with it.
This is a Klingon.Different from what you have seen before but a Klingon nonetheless.Move on.

Keep in mind that the Kelvin movies and Discovery both have the same concept artist designing their aliens, Neville Page. STID's Klingons were originally going to have hair, but it was decided somewhere along the line that they looked better bald. Perhaps Page is just building on his past experience.
I read somewhere the Into Darkness Klingon we saw unmasked was bald because his helmet kept catching on and pulling off the wig when it was removed, so they decided to have him bald. Some of the Klingons who keep their helmets on have long hair.

Yeah, but the point is, whatever the reason, maybe they liked the look and decided to keep it here.

Wait, didn't one of the Martin/Mangels novels (either Titan or Excelsior?) say it was the Klingon Augment Virus which gave Odan his bumpy forehead?
In Trill: Unjoined it's just Bashir noticing multiple types in a crowd. I don't remember what Forged in Fire did.

In the comic Symbiosis, Kareel Odan is retconned to have spots.

That's really likely. But what do you think about a possible appearance of Chang? Do you think he'll appear and if so would that be a good idea and how big should his role be in the show in your opinion?

But what do you think about a possible appearance of Chang?

I think that's an incredibly random question. The fact that he happened to have a shaved head doesn't constitute any reason to think the show's writers have any particular interest in using him as opposed to any other Klingon.

The shaved head issue isn't my main reason to suspect him appearing at all. His high status in the Klingon Government during TUC is. It is said that all the important Houses will appear in Discovery. It would make sense to see the beginning of his rise in the Klingon government and his role in the war against the Federation.

^But why only Chang, then? Why not Gorkon or Kruge or someone like that? I just don't see the connection.

I'd love to see them all again, especially Gorkon, who i also suspect of making an appearance. I mentioned Chang because of the war, his later rank of a general and his grudge against the UFP.

Would be nice to also see Kruge again, but he is just a klingon captain among many. But that would be fanservice, as there are no important reasons for him to appear in contrast to Chang, Gorkon, Kerla and Korrd imo.

If you wanted to maybe "read" about Kruge, his role in the Klingon Empire, and get some info about his family, John Jackson Miller wrote a trilogy that features Kruge just last year. Star trek: Prey. I love me some Klingons and this trilogy scratched that itch. It wasn't as good as something like Destiny, but it was still a pretty great read :)

:techman:Sounds fascinating! Looking forward to read these books! :)

Do you think some TOS Klingons beside Kor make an appearance in Discovery? I guess we can take Kor for granted, as Kol is a member of the House of Kor.

I always thought that his being addressed as "My Lord" by his subordinates (and even Saavik) hinted at some kind of status of nobility, beyond just another Bird of Prey commander.

Kor

It'll be interesting to see if Michael Dorn will make an appearance as someone from the House of Mogh, just like he did in Trek 6. From what we know, the House of Mogh was descended from Klingon nobility, and until the 2340's and the Khitomer incident, never ran into any trouble, so it would be a powerhouse in Klingon affairs in the 22nd century.
