I read somewhere the Into Darkness Klingon we saw unmasked was bald because his helmet kept catching on and pulling off the wig when it was removed, so they decided to have him bald. Some of the Klingons who keep their helmets on have long hair.Keep in mind that the Kelvin movies and Discovery both have the same concept artist designing their aliens, Neville Page. STID's Klingons were originally going to have hair, but it was decided somewhere along the line that they looked better bald. Perhaps Page is just building on his past experience.

In Trill: Unjoined it's just Bashir noticing multiple types in a crowd. I don't remember what Forged in Fire did.Wait, didn't one of the Martin/Mangels novels (either Titan or Excelsior?) say it was the Klingon Augment Virus which gave Odan his bumpy forehead?
Yeah, but the point is, whatever the reason, maybe they liked the look and decided to keep it here.
But what do you think about a possible appearance of Chang?
I think that's an incredibly random question. The fact that he happened to have a shaved head doesn't constitute any reason to think the show's writers have any particular interest in using him as opposed to any other Klingon.
^But why only Chang, then? Why not Gorkon or Kruge or someone like that? I just don't see the connection.
...Would be nice to also see Kruge again, but he is just a klingon captain among many.
If you wanted to maybe "read" about Kruge, his role in the Klingon Empire, and get some info about his family, John Jackson Miller wrote a trilogy that features Kruge just last year. Star trek: Prey. I love me some Klingons and this trilogy scratched that itch. It wasn't as good as something like Destiny, but it was still a pretty great read![]()
