Discovery has been delayed until May 2017

Agree with you guys -- happy they're taking their time to make it a quality show. I'm disappointed in the sense that I'm just super impatient.

I'd rather TPTB acknowledge that they need more time to get the show ready than rush it to meet a January date. I mean, look what happened to TMP because it was locked to open in December. It's not the end of the world. And in fact, it's better.

I really assumed they would have had more pre-production work done before announcing a January date, though I guess I'd rather they delay it and make it right.

Disappointed but not entirely unexpected since we're mid September now and they haven't even caste the show.

Keep in mind Fuller also has American God's coming out that is already filming so he's bouncing between two productions. I'd rather a delay allowing him more time to focus on both shows than have his attention sacrificed on one.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but it seemed reckless to choose January if they wouldn't be ready in time. It seems like someone is not doing their job and I wonder who that is.

I think this is positive news. TV is much more competitive than it was even a decade ago, and the Star Trek name won't give them a cushion to figure things out; they have to get it right from the start.

Oh, drat! I was really looking forward to January. However, that schedule seemed too tight so I hope they will get it right with the extra months.

But I can't help thinking that CBS really botched this. They own the property, they knew 2016 was the 50th anniversary. They really should have prepared for that well in advance and launched this new show this year (preferably on September 8th).

Meh, shows and movies get delayed all the time.

Sure they do. But when they announced, they had fourteen months to the premiere. Likely, they had been working on it a while before that. Could be lots of things (availability of actors?), but they had plenty of time to put this together.

Sad about this, but hopefully we get a better series because of it. I'll just have to watch even more classic Trek in the meantime. Might even rewatch Enterprise...
