I'm looking forward to both for the aforementioned reasons: brand-new Trek from DSC, and warm, fuzzy nostalgia from The Orville.
And if you close your eyes, you can pretend Brian is the captain.

The Orville looks and feels like TNG.

I predict alot of Orville vs. Discovery warring going on this fall.
Especially if Orville does what I think it will and that's surprise people with how thoughtful it ends up being instead of just comedic. Look at Ted. People keep underestimating McFarlane, but they forget that he's a Trek fan, a sci-fi fan, a space fan, and a big softie on the inside.
Nostalgia is a powerful marketplace motivator, especially now that my generation has steady jobs and money - and more importantly has creative supervision of large scale projects.
Lot's and lots of 80's themed stuff is making its way into entertainment.

Negative reaction? I haven't seen that.
...or Facebook, or sites other than TrekBBS, or... well, you get the picture.Whatever you do, don't go on Youtube.
I love the concept behind Orville, but the trailer didn't make me laugh, and isn't it supposed to be (at least partly) a comedy?
The Discovery trailer didn't sell me, but I thought it worked better than Orville's.
I really hope they're both good, but we shall see.
Of course... they only made billions of dollars. Super fail.Nostalgia has been proven not to work... See TFA and Rogue One.................

I'm on a few Trek related groups on Facebook and the negative reactions seem to outweigh the positive reactions but I could be wrong.Negative reaction? I haven't seen that. I've seen a few people raising complaints and criticism, but at worst i'd say the reaction has been "mixed" to Discovery so far.
I am looking forward to both. The positive reaction to the Orville and the negative reaction to the Discovery trailer has me thoroughly convinced that there is a portion of the fan base stuck in the 1990s..or even the 1960s.
