Update drivers? Having that issue with my ethernet card was fun.
Kind of a silly question but how do I go to the global version of a website and not the .au version?
Tried to find monitor firmware for my monitor and it keeps putting me on the local website for my brand and the .au site is very limited.
I have a question: Just thought of this last night... I have my computer set up to not file share. Will that make it so they aren't able to continue to pass on Windows 10 to other computers, torrent style?
Or am I screwed?

wrong sort of file sharing.
Your personal files and data were never shared. That has to be specifically enabled (the ramification for Microsoft would have been very unpleasant if they started sharing people's private data willy-nilly.
What was shared however, where the files for Windows updates (probably to alleviate the load on Microsoft''s update servers.

Dang it. Ugh. I don't like it, regardless of it alleviating their server load. Just get more servers, Microsoft!
Now I have to continually switch back and forth between being a metered connection and a non metered one.

What about if you disabled the Windows update and/or BITS (background intelligent transfer) services?.
You'd have to turn them on periodically in order to ensure that your computer is up to date but could leave them off most of the time.

Windows key + S and enter Services. Should return Services (trusted desktop app) which then you then click.
In the list of services, look for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (they list alphabetically by default). Right click on, choose properties. From the drop down enter to Start Up Type, choose disable. Click okay and return to the list of services.
Click on Name and it reverse the sort order then look down the list for Windows Update and repeat.
close the services window and carry on as usual.
Is the drive still in warranty?
My SSD drive died, but had a five year warranty on it, and I got a free replacement, so yes, it is worth looking into.

Good question. I'll have to look into that.
Did you have to have a receipt? If so, I'm up a creek. I don't have mine anymore.
I'll be going in to get a new one, since I have to get it before the 1st of January so I don't lose my data due to Window strong arming people to transfer over to 10.
Just checked on their site... and I'm out of luck. It's out of limited warranty. Oh well. The kicker? It expired last year... when my drive was still working. -_-

Isn't that always the way?
Hey when I put in my new graphics card should I first remove the current drivers before I shut down the PC? I use Nvidia drivers and usually to uninstall them requires you uninstall them and restart to finish the process, so not sure what to do in Windows 10 or is it the same as with Windows 7? You get left with generic Windows drivers?
IIRC I've been able to upgrade either way, but -not- uninstalling first sometimes introduced headaches into the process.
Ok this is not funny... my new drive was able to back up 50% of my computer and it's files before it screwed up due to either the USB ports themselves malfunctioning or a driver. So now onto seeing what I can do. It was an i/o device error I ran into.
Perfect timing. Considering I have to complete the back up before updating to 10.
It had been acting up before but I didn't think it was anything uber serious.
Cleaned out my USB ports to see if that might help any along with checking to see if any drivers needed to be updated and am trying to back up again. Hoping that that does the trick.

Does your current motherboard have USB3 on it? If not and there's potentially a problem with your current USB ports, look at getting an add in USB 3 card. Apart from the faster transfer rates, it will by-pass any dodgy USB ports on your motherboard.
