Detmer's 23rd Century Cyborg Implants in the 30th Century

I agree it's beyond absurd that Detmer likely doesn't have her implant removed and her injury cured with 32nd century medicine. But if the showrunners are bent on having her keep the implant for "coolness" (despite not understanding that a society with advanced medicine that can heal injuries without metal parts is far more futuristic), they should make it a running joke.

32nd century resident: Help, it's an xB!
Detmer: For the gazillionth time, I'm not an xB!
Burnham: Kayla, just go get that implant removed and your injury healed already!
Detmer: It's my last reminder of the 23rd century!
Vance: Sigh.

I'm sure they "understand" it just fine. It's their story and they should be allowed to tell it the way they want. Just as the authors of "The Menagerie" were allowed to tell their story about the injuries suffered by Pike.
