That's true for all the Star Trek series. Each ship was only as strong as the plot dictated for the right dramatic effect.

It maybe generally true for all of Trek but it's at it's most excessive in DS9.

Maybe, but one could argue there are far more battle scenes in DS9 than in TNG or TOS. How many times does the Enterprise in TNG even have a ship-to-ship battle with anything but an alien of the week? I can only think of a few instances off the top of my head - the Borg episodes... er... They never really got round to fighting, they tended to come up with other solutions (which is sort of the point of Star Trek).

Voyager was also wildly inconsistent, particularly with regards to the supposed strength of the Borg, who were the only real recurring villains. I suppose they were generally pretty consistent with the Kazon - Voyager was far superior, but could be weakened if ganged up on.

So my point is that it would be strange if DS9 didn't end up with more of these inconsistencies than other shows, given they had an ongoing war with the same type of ships fighting each other over the years. Again dramatic necessity is the only thing that ultimately matters.

While we may not like how Voyager potrayed the Borg that really comes from First Contact and Voyager merely follows suit But everything about the Borg was screwed up in FC.

Voyager was consistently the strongest ship in a fight. They just portrayed Voyager with a heaping helping of Luck. The problem with DS9 was that their was no ship hierarchy. They couldn't decided episode to episode who was stronger...it was strictly plot relevant. Voyager was involved with alot of fighting.

It's biggest discrepancy was Species 8472 that no one seems to notice. A bioship blast away huge chunks of Borg ship yet when they target Voyager no such damage was ever seen. The saving grace is that they were glancing blows but it still looks REAL funky.

In TNG the Enterprise NEVER had the upper hand on the War Bird. They made that abundantly clear on several occasions even Picard wanting details on dismantling the defenses of the B Type Warbird. But otherwise it was alien of the week and usually unforeseen circumstances

Hi,
I'm Tim Palgut, Schmidt's ex-collaborator on the SD blueprints.

There was already a lot of work done to make them correct (I posted this on the Nova thread but since this is a Defiant thread I'll post here too.)

I was given this to proof:

It's not just fore and aft, all aspects needed fixing.

So take care in your source material! The CG model doesn't necessarily match the physical model, so you have to pick and choose what you want to include and disregard. Be careful in just blindly copying other blueprints too. Always cross-reference with photos of the model.

I'm currently making more updates and corrections to the interior and exterior of Defiant to make them even more accurate as there's always room for improvement.
