DEFIANCE Season 3

Personally, no matter how hot and useful Stahma has been, I would never pardon her for the murder of that deputy. That was just flat-out first degree. Does Amanda know she killed Kenya too?

She does know.

But somehow got over it. She's such a numpty sometimes the way they write her.

To be honest, there's a lot worse characterizations this year. I'm still not sure why Irisa and Berlin suddenly decided to stop hating each other.

Yeah from what I've read it's out of character.

I hope there is another season and where the hell is Nolan going to go anyway?

Out there. That-a-way.

Well she did stab Stahma with a letter opener, and sentence Datak to death by having his limbs pulled out of their sockets, so that might have helped.

Yeah but that sentence was never carried out at all was it?

Actually it was it just they stopped before the limbs were actually pulled from the sockets so they could get him to volunteer for a suicide mission.

So are Dark Matter and Killjoy's renewals good or bad news for the prospects of a Season 4?

I don't know about the ratings and the ratings vs. production expenses but I'm sure Defiance is a hell of a lot more expensive... does it bring in the ratings? :/

I don't thikn Irisa really had much of a problem with Berlin. It was just Berlin blaming Irisa for Tommy. I do agree that that was all dropped rather suddenly though.
I never really had much of a problem with what they did with Amanda and the Tarrs though.

And with that assumed suicide mission, Stahma received a full pardon of all her crimes...so it'd be illegal to kill her.

And considering the greater threat, and the reality of the "new world", I guess the mayor figured the hate wasn't worth it.

Just move Nolan to one of those shows since he's already out there in deep space now. :p That'll cut the cost of Defiance a bit as long as they don't add anyone new.

Not sure that Grant Bowler's salary is that big a cost for the producers :)

Was going to say they problaby have a lot of costs from outdoor shooting, by from a guick google search, they use outdoor sets in Toronto (and given the $CA is down it might be even cheaper for a U.S company now).

As to the impact of the renwal of Dark Matter and Killjoys, they are co-productions (Bell Media who on Space channel in Canada are also kicking in and have a largely Canadian cast) it might not be too great - afterall they had both in production at the same time as S3 of Defiance.

According to Wikipedia most season 3 episodes got just above 1 million viewers, with one episode actually dipping below 1 million, compared to last year where most episodes were close to the 2 million mark, with one episode hitting it.

Now, I don't know if these numbers tell the whole story or what they mean in the grand scheme of things. Though Stargate Universe was getting similar numbers when its plug was pulled.

We didn't get word of renewal last year until September 25, so technically we could still go a little over three weeks before hearing anything. Hopefully we'll get word soon, especially with Dark Matter and Killjoys already announced.

I hope if we get a 4th season that we get the Dark Matter goons from the game in the show. Since they represent the views of Votans above everyone else and are just plain bad guys..

While Grant Bowler was technically the lead, Julie Benz, Tony Curran, and Jaimie Murray are more well known, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if they got paid more.

Except in Australia but that probably does count for much in this instance :)

Actually isn't anyone traveling with Nolan?

They could surely chart their journey and reverse that to get back to Earth can't they? The ship doesn't have computers or something to help them?

Doc Ewell is plugged into the ship and controlling it with her brain. I'm sure she can navigate back if need be.

Defiance has been canceled. I really enjoyed all three seasons, but I do think that the Season 3 finale does work very well as a series finale too, so I'm pretty happy that things ended the way they did.

Compared with all the many, many series that finish without any sort of ending (hello 'Dominion') I'm glad they planned it that way.

i agree. it was a good wrap up, yet open for a sequel or new season. very wise of them. but what does that mean for the game? will that wrap up too?

Yep and I think if they'd come back for a fourth season it would have been sans-Nolan (may or may not have been a good thing).

Well either that or some convuluted story on how Nolan got off the Almec ship and back to earth which I think would have pissed the fans off.
