Yeah, but if you don't count four seasons of TV, four MCU movies, and two non-MCU movies, it's hardly been done at all!

Maybe he was referring to that other universe where they haven't done anything with it?

So how come all those well-liked and successful things aren't used as reasons why the Multiverse works then?

They have a crack marketing team here

Not bad for a movie with loads of humor, lots of multiversal shenanigans and tightly integrating with a series on D+ and all the things wrong with the MCU. ;)

I still think it's funny that they're blaming the Multiverse concept when that actually gave them the Spiderverse films, No Way Home and the Loki TV series.

As for the 1 Billion worldwide...well, gutless fanservice has shown it does that

The people praising this movie are loving it for mocking the multiverse concept and saying how it's completely terrible...ignoring stuff like Loki and Spiderverse.

And this film used fanservice in lieu of a real plot.
Are they? Some are praising it for being a fun action packed movie. Did it mock the multiverse concept? It used it for a couple laughs, like with the multiple Wolverines. But for the most part it treated the concept with same level of respect the rest of the films do.

The fan service was well integrated into the film. The supporting characters (they were more than cameos) from the other timelines were well written and acted. The main plot and the key subplots were as well written as most of what the MCU has offered. (I’m in the middle of an MCU C rewatch) Some pretty good emotional beats for Logan and even Wade. Tatum rocked as Gambit. And I’m not a fan of either. Might be the most comics accurate portrayal on all levels of any Marvel character on screen. And Evans as the Human Torch, beautiful.

The point is people had fun watching the film, because of the fan service and despite whether or not it existed in lieu of a plot (the film certainly did have a plot).

Plus, enjoying the multiverse concept and enjoying the mockery of it aren't mutually exclusive.

But they're not enjoying it and mocking it at the same time. The fan response seems to be "Yes, the movie acknowledged how the Multiverse is overall terrible and never should have been done at all."

Eh, I think Tatum stunk as Gambit. Man is a charisma vacuum. We need a real actor like Austin Butler to play Gambit, even though Gambit admittedly isn't as important to X-Men as people think.

Was nice to see Evans back, though I was hoping for Alba as Invisible Woman too.
