OK, that would explain it.
Where/when was it definitively confirmed that a crossover between Stargirl and the Arrowverse is happening?
I can't find anything that indicates this beyond one article from a notoriously unreliable site that I won't name.
Today when it was announced John Wesley Shipp will guest star as Jay Garrick in Season 2.
What's happening with JWS on Stargirl isn't a crossover; it's the equivalent of Amanda Pays and others showing up on The Flash to play different versions of characters they'd previously played.
Kaci Walfall cast as Naomi
Three further roles also cast.
I haven't seen her in anything, but I'm glad to see they got an actual teen and didn't go the Riverdale/90210 casting route.
I expect that she has talent as well as being age appropriate--DuVernay's attachment to this series has raised my expectations for a quality product. I am also thinking that this could be a great series to crossover with Stargirl.
It doesn't sound like the TV version of Naomi"s origin story is going to include Superman because they're describing the catalyst for the story as a "supernatural event" and I wouldn't classify the appearance of a character like that as being "supernatural".
More casting news:
Barry Watson - Greg, Naomi's adoptive father
Mouzam Makkar - Jennifer, Naomi's adoptive mother
Mary-Charles Jones - Annabelle, Naomi's best friend
Aidan Gemme - Jacob, Annabelle's boyfriend
Daniel Puig - Nathan, Naomi's ex-boyfriend
Also, Amanda Marsalis will direct the pilot episode. She's previously directed episodes of "Ozark", "Westworld", and "The Umbrella Academy". She directed several episodes of the upcoming TV show "Invasion".
Interesting article here about Superman in the Naomi pilot, even though it's all just "reports" and speculation at this point:
