Spoilers DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5

As Phil Klemmer says in the interview:

"It would probably kill Tala Ashe to do all of those makeup changes constantly and having the poor camera crew do little motion-control tricks and split-screens and all the rest of it — it's tremendously painstaking, so yeah."

It would never have been practical to keep them both. Okay, other shows in the past have managed to pull off the twinning trick (The Patty Duke Show, e.g.), but here it would be on top of the demands of all the other characters and action and special effects, and it would just be an added complication.

And as Klemmer told TV Line, keeping Zari 1.0 or merging her with 2.0 would be like saying there was something wrong with Z2 and she needed the original to balance her or fix her. And Z2 ended up remembering a lot of Z1's skills and gaining her strengths, so essentially Z1 is already in her.

It was a fun romp, a good ending and had several great laughs.
I will miss Zari 1.0. I'll take her stoic, no nonsense character over an "influencer" any day.
I like where they are going next season and look forward to an hour of stupid fun with the crew of the Waverider.

(except Gary...so annoying, LOL)

I'll miss Zari 1.0, 2.0 felt a little more of a joke that had gone on long enough.
The finale was fine, but, for FUCK'S sake can they stop with the "Legends, we're fuck ups, that's what's special about us." Yeah, you've been saying that ALL the time for like three seasons. Maybe we don't need to keep hammering that theme?

That's not how I read it. They saw the potential, but also saw that, on a practical level, it would be an ongoing production headache week after week. Sometimes the practical realities of filmmaking (budgets, schedules, etcetera) inevitably trump a cool idea.

And if I was Tala's agent, I'd sure expect her to get a pay raise for playing two regulars every week. :)
Yeah, I think it's pretty safe to say the whole process you go through to have the same actors playing multiple characters in the same scene is a massive pain in the ass. I can't even imagine what the production team for Orphan Black must have gone through having to do it in a good chunk of the show.

Probably part of the reason they only did 10 episodes a year.

With a name like "Spooner" Cruz, I feel they should team her up with "Snapper" Carr.

And I wonder if she has a relative named Jessica...

Yeah, it would be a very odd "coincidence" if they just created a random character with the same last name.

Not really -- Cruz is a very common surname. It's generally one of the top 10-20 surnames in Latin America. So it's not an odd coincidence at all.

Besides, Ava Sharpe is not related to Becky Sharpe/Hazard (who also exists in the Arrowverse) or Stephen Sharpe/The Gambler (who exists on Stargirl's Earth-2). Earth-1's Roy Harper wasn't related to Earth-38's Jim Harper (although they are related in the comics). Some names are just common enough to show up more than once.

I'm shocked we've gone 5 seasons and they haven't brought in Booster Gold. He would be an absolutely perfect fit for the Legends.

I think the movie division was developing something with Booster, so he was off-limits for TV. I think it was a Booster-Blue Beetle team-up movie, which is why Arrow dropped their plans for Ted Kord and subbed in Ray Palmer.

Krypton's "Adam Strange" was more Booster than Adam.

Ah, that would explain it.
