Both cities are on the East Coast. Metropolis is in Delaware, on the coast pretty much due east of Dover. Gotham is in New Jersey, about where Atlantic City is.Is there any official location for Metropolis and Gotham? I know Metropolis is supposed to be in the Mid West like Kansas, or is that a "Smallville" invention? I know Gotham is on the water but is that the Atlantic or the Great Lakes?
Smallville itself wasn't in the midwest until the Donner movie. Prior to that, it was in Maryland.

Not quite. Smallville never had a set location until the Donner film. It seemed to frequently change during the Pre-Crisis era, and the first suggestion on where Superman grew up was said to be in Iowa (though, it wasn't called Smallville at the time).
That means plenty of issues in dealers $1 bins!!!According to Hero Complex Justice League #1 has print pre-orders of over 200,000 copies, which will make it the top selling issue of 2011. Six other DC relaunch #1 issues have print pre-orders of over 100,000 copies.

I know you are kidding, but the one thing that always bothered me from a story-telling perspective with Marvel is that all the superheroes seemed to be based out of NYC.

According to the DC Comics Database Star and Coast Cities are both in California, and Keystone City is in Kansas. Those are the only major DC cities I can think of ATM.Both cities are on the East Coast. Metropolis is in Delaware, on the coast pretty much due east of Dover.
